Yummy...home grown tomatoes are just the very very best...I love thick french bread, slathered with olive oil, and thick slices of home grown tomatoes, sprinkled with Italian seasonings, and a little cheese, and broiled until just hot and the cheese melted....nothing more is needed...can be eaten for breakfast, lunch, or dinner...
And I also love deep fried green tomatoes...that tomato sure is versatile...

Or even plain old 'mater sandwiches with mayo, salt and pepper on white bread. Yummy.

Oh Mom, I've been pigging out on them.. I love them sliced with cottage cheese and chives too. I am so glad we planted them this year. I can buy them a couple doors down the street, but I just love having my own.. I will do what you said, with some nice fresh Basil from the garden too.. Yummy..
It's so nice that they are an anti-oxidant too....;)

Is Steve the original owner? I've never seen the back seat of a '67 Charger before. ;-)
Once upon a time I owned a '68 GTO. Those were the days...

Yes, indeed, sounds like your menus get planned around using up the tomatoes...what a lovely way to plan the meals.....of all the veggies, I have always thought, that one can always tell a homegrown tomato, from a store bought tomato, tastewise...there is just something about a homegrown tomato, that makes it rise above anything bought in the store....

This Fried Green Tomatoes Restaurant would appear worthy of stopping the motorhome.

All this tomato talk is sending me to the farmer's market right now. bbl

Jacob age 85, and Rebecca age 79 are all excited about their decision to get married. They go for a stroll to discuss the wedding and on the way go past a drugstore. Jacob suggests that they go in. He addresses the man behind the counter:
"Are you the owner?"
The pharmacist answers, "Yes."
Jacob: "Do you sell heart medication?"
Pharmacist: "Of course we do."
Jacob: "How about medicine for circulation?"
Pharmacist: "All kinds."
Jacob: "Medicine for rheumatism?"
Pharmacist: "Definitely."
Jacob: "How about Viagra?"
Pharmacist: "Of course."
Jacob: "Medicine for memory?"
Pharmacist: "Yes, a large variety."
Jacob: "What about vitamins and sleeping pills?"
Pharmacist: "Absolutely."
Jacob: "Perfect! We'd like to register here for our wedding gifts."

What a great link, for what looks like a wonderful taste experience...yes, indeed, a stop off of the motorhome would be indicated here....
I have been to Galena, Illinois many, many times....being raised in Chicago, we were always near Galena....we used to go camping for a weekend, up that way...dad would always find a campground where fishing was nearby....me and mom and my brother would spend time swimming and meeting other kids and just having a swell time camping...even as a teen-ager, when my parents were going camping near Galena, I always went with....and one of my best girlfriends used to enjoy going camping with us as well...
Saturdays were for dad to go fishing...Sundays, he took us into Galena...lots of little shops with all kinds of antiques and other goodies...
And then there was always the obligatory tour through Grants home, a tour we always loved to take...
That whole Galena area is just lovely and full of shops, restaurants, and lovely bed and breakfast, and old hotels...something for everyone...
Thanks for that link, Loddy, another place to add on to our ever growing list of places to see, and things to do...retirement will be busy, thats for sure...no moss growing on these two old stones...

MORMONS? (*girlish horror movie shriek*)
Okay, now that's done with.. Did you answer the phone with, "Hello, Grand Central Station."?
I have a habit of answering the door and saying, "Hi, I'm Memnoch. What's this? I don't see any virgins to sacrifice. Come back when you have a few." Or some other insane babbling. ( I do hate door to door types, cramps my style. )
Lodwick... That drawing didn't seem to have any 'right' side up when I drew it.
It kinda just fell out of my pencil and crawled across the paper with a greasy choir voice. I had an arguement with the 'puter a few weeks back.. remember the drawing with the sword? Well, there's two of them, one is in color. The 'puter wouldn't scan it. So the untitled bit of insanity above, far above, was a kind of experimant to see just what teh machine didn't like.
Seems it just didn't like me. (Feeling is mutual, technology!) Seems it didn't like the fact that the color drawing of the sword had a white background with too little, if any, difference. Oooh, burns me up...
But it'd do that even if it was an Apple machine instead of a Windows machine. But it was worth the info I gained from it. Let everyone's eyes go. I'm babbling again.

By the time you have the motorhome, we should have you quite the itinerary mapped out - but the best part will be the freedom to stay as long, or short, a time in any place that strikes your fancy.
Has Andy received enough hints so that he comes through with the laptop and digital camera for Christmas?
You can't be a goof like I, and have the stuff and not know how to use it...doh.

Good afternoon sir - thanks for the drawing explanation. If you could get your work to Gran, I'll bet she could whip it right into shape with her magical program and skills.
A great afternoon to ya, Memnoch. ;-)
No help here with the desired virgins. See ya!

It's not so much the getting it to her part. It's, I have a dial-up connection and have a set max limit to the outgoing file size I can send.
So, I have to edit the image down to a sendable size before I do so. And that's if the 'puter agrees to let me see it in the first place. (The better the scan quality, the more memory it takes to view it...)
So, coupled with the internet connection I have to deal with.. it gets frustrating. Then to hear the local broa-band providers excuses as to why there's broadband a quarter mile down the road on either side of me, but not here.... Makes one's blood boil. Makes me hear teh song "Seeing Red" by the band "Chevelle".
The best excuse yet was, froma cable company, "We don't see a demand for it there."
Umm... If it was available, wouldn't there be a demand?
The next one was from teh phone company, "The infra-structure just can't handle it." (This is after they upgraded the phonelines to digital here... so DSL SHOULD be available.. but....
No virgies? Garn! Guess I'll have to go and melt someone's mind again.

I'm not sure who your line providers are in Kentothe, but if dsl capabilities exist to your home
these guys will find it for you. Expect to get offers of a couple of free months' service, free printers, installation, modems, etc by email. The very best of luck with resolving a crappy situation.

I have no idea what Andys plans are for us this Christmas....I suspect tho, that he will wait for the laptop and digital camera, until we are actually ready to hit the road...figures he will wait for the latest and best stuff to get us, for when we really will need it...
Thats still about 2 1/2 yrs off, so in that time, who knows what other improvements or tricky things they will have on that years models of laptops and cameras...
Hes really pretty good about taking hints....and I know he will be glad to see us go and fullfill our dream, and will no doubt help us along with a few gifts...the other thing he will no doubt get us is a cell phone...
I know Andy will be grinning and waving as we leave home, to wander about...glad to see us go(ever increasing the buffer zone between him and us), but also glad that we will be so happy, being wherever we want, for as long or as short a time as we want, and not have to worry about schedules...

Solid thinking on the technological advances that will be made in the next couple of years - I've had a computer since 1996, I think, and the advances since then have been nothing short of fantastic and the pricing has been dropping like a t*rd from a tall cow.
Andy's a good guy - and you both should be very proud of the job you did when you were in the "parenting" mode of your lives.
Off to the store to get what I forgot on the previous run.

Yea, Andys a good guy..tho he sometimes likes to think that he just got that way, all by himself...LOL...
When he first got us our computer, I was always doing something wrong or stupid, and could not figure out how to get myself back on track...I always had this idea, that I somehow did something wrong, and broke the computer...
So poor Andy, I was always calling him at work, to get assistance...and often I was crying at the time...
Now one must understand that Andy is a very big tall muscular boy, who can and does often get 'surly' as he calls it...one time when I called, whoever answered the phone, recognized my voice immediately, and jokingly called out to Andy "Hey, Andy, you moms on the phone, and shes been crying again"....it was a small company, and they all knew Andy and his ways, and knew he could take some good hearted ribbing about his sobbing mom on the phone...
However a fairly new employee, so I hear tell, just raised his eyebrows, and commented, "You mean to tell me, Andy actually has a mother?"...I guess the guy just thought Andy arrived on earth fully grown and surly, as who could have raised such a kid, and still have the guts to call him up, crying the whole time, for something stupid she did on her computer...
That Andy, thats my boy...
