Well, I went over to that 'if only' thread for the first time a little while ago, and YIKES, its more than 3000 posts, way too many for me to read right now....so just skimmed through it....seems to be a lot of hard feelings on some posters sides, lots of arguing, and then those who are trying to smoothe it over...

I am not certain if its in the nature of forums to go through times of upheaval...we saw lots of upheaval at L.com, which is why many of us came here...

Personally, I hate to see anyone leave...There are many different viewpoints, about politics, economics, social issues, religion, and no two people are ever going to agree on everything...I always like to see and hear about many different viewpoints on a particular subject...To me, anyway, its rather boring if everyone is agreeing on things, and giving high fives all the time, and slapping each other on the back in congratulations....thats just plain boring...

Various ideas, various opinions, people from all different area of the USA, and indeed, from many other countries, all bring a flair and excitement to the discussions...

Tho, I gather from BADJOEs assertions, he feels that donations are down, due in part to some actions on the part of the different moderators...and his attempts to have Jim Robinson address this, have been met with resistance, on JRs part...and therefore, its makes BADJOE feel as if his work in the fundraisers has been hurt...

It may be in part that the moderators have contributed to what BADJOE says is a decline in contributions...It may also be that there are other factors at work...some people may have lost their jobs, some may have had a financial reversal, some just dont feel like giving to each quarterly fundraiser, prefering to give only once a year, some may feel that they dont want to give at all any longer, etc. etc.etc.etc...

To me, when there is a loss of revenues to a particular business, or company, or a forum such as FR...there is usually more than one cause...but all these causes, taken together, and their net effect on contributions, may be startling...

I have no answer for what has caused the downturn in contributions to FR...it may just be a normal turn of events, in such an undertaking, and it may be just as normal to see an upturn in contributions in the future...

But that 'If Only' thread sure has seemed to open wounds, and get people really angry with one another...

I love you all on DD more than life itself
I had planned to post on LP and also on DD
but DD is part of FR
I'm starting to feel dishonest to both sites
but especially to FR
how I will survive missing all of you
I don't know
but when Kathy and Jude emailed me chrissie should pick a side and stick to it
I knew chrissie was torn the way I am
she too has friends here she loves
neither of us were trying to be unethical
we want to be with our friends on FR
my decision isnt written in cement
I'll think about it
FR is owed honesty and fairness by me too
but can a girl remain here with her friends when she no longer believes in the site
I don't see how
I believe in DD
our thread has only always wanted joy and love
I don't know if it is right for me not to be honest bout FR tho
I would never seek to hurt it, but my feelings bout it aren't the same
even tho there are so many loving posters all over FR, that I love

I want to know the same thing that Grannie wants to know...it sounds like you are saying adieu to us, and I just hope that is not so...

What has upset you to this extent?...there seem to be lots of emotions on FR and LP today....perhaps a breather is needed...

To me at least, this is not a matter of being dishonest to one site or another, just because you might post to both sites, who may have members who are in conflict with one another....

Dont do yourself harm, by making yourself sad, by having to chose one site or the other, on which to post...

You are smart enough and big hearted enough, to call many different folks your friends, who may not agree with each other on many different issues...

I haven't believed in FR for a long time..Ever since the anonymous letters episode, but I've hung around, more or less. So, think about it Palo....What is going on isn't the end of the world....

I am here....I think it has just been a very trying weekend for everyone. Some are more personally involved than others. It'll take a few days for the air to clear and then MAYBE it'll be business as usual. It's not the first time something of this magnitude has happened. ANd unfortunately, it won't be the last.

We are all friends, and it'll all work out in the end.

'cuz I did not feel comfortable coming here, in public, to say this ... as I never comment here ... though I read you all frequently ... then I changed my mind because I thought I would appear less than honest ... hiding under Auntie's skirt ... so to speak ... NOT that I am calling you an Auntie ... 'tis just a phrase ....

You say you have lost faith in FreeRepublic ... yet you had enough faith to know you could come here and announce this .... for you had faith that FreeRepublic would still be standing and ready to accept and print your negative words ....

I am the most techno-antiquity person you will probably ever know ... and I have never been to any other place but here ... except to lurk at LP, as JimRob himself supplied the link .... on a thread a while ago ...

I do not try to insult you ... but I have never understood how comments like yours ... as you chew up his efforts and intents ... sacrifices ... that allow your words to even be seen ... make any sense at all ... you would not be here ... where ever the heck this is ... if FreeRepublic was not still here ...

Can you see the contradiction? How can you possibly say that you do not believe in FreeRepublic with any authority at all, when you are using the resources and talents and dedication of this site to state such a thing?!

In the simplest scheme of things ... think on this ... since I have lurked over at LP I have learned that a major player there quit this day ... how come FR has not started a thread announcing that Goldi-lox has quit her own forum ... how come there's no lively thread on FR celebrating this?! Why is it that you are ... sorry ... that is too personal ... why is it that so many find fault here by using ..... HERE ... to complain about here?!
