WE shall behave ourselves, for a little while anyway...

We had a mountain lion on the loose a while back, here in NW Washington...if I remember right, it was near a place called Northwest Trek, which is an open type of game park, where a tram drives through and you can view the animals in their natural surroundings...
But they also have some animals in fenced in areas , and it just seems that slowly some animals were disappearing from the pens, and there would be mountain lion tracks spotted near the fences...seems like the mountain lion would climb up and over the fences, which were extremely high, and the animals in the those fenced in area, would have only just so much room to try to escape the mountain lion...
They set traps, and set out nets and all, but this mountain lion really eluded them for some time, and then all of a sudden another animal would be missing from its fenced in area...
Eventually, I think they caught this mountain lion, but cannot remember the details...
Maybe Westy remembers this, or can clear up the details, as my memory seems to be foggy on several of the details...

the pictures he took this morning came out
however....
the reason they look lousy, man in camera store explained, is 2 things are broken in my dad's old (fancy expensive) camera
camera storeman offered to fix it for $120, so bill is gonna find out how much digital camera costs
I never got to swim
before we went swimming bill said ''there are 4 photos left
you take them of me and Happy and Lulu so I can send them to my sis''
I did not notice black strap was hanging down in front of lens
when I told him he said I was idiot
it's cause we were rushing I didnt concentrate
he was upset with me, so I didnt go swimmin'
then he had them developed and every picture was bad cause of broken camera
turns out camera was in such bad shape the blackstrap didnt even show up
he kindly offered to take me to pool at other side of town, but when we arrived there was swim meet
so I just took a shower
he said ''I guess I drove you all this way so you could take a shower''
Love, Palo

I had to post one of these pics of AC's. I seemed to like this much better than he did. I saw some beauty here that he's not too nuts about..lol

He took this last night at the big celebration in town.. I didn't frame it well, but I love the kids and the color..

Plenty of bears up here.
Never heard of them snatching anything other than chickens or free meals from dumpsters. They can be a pain but are pretty much left be until they become a problem or hunting season whichever comes first. Have seen some cats. One was what I think was a lynx (pointy eared) when I was a kid..and one my dog was chasing a few years back it was pretty close to his size and he runs a bit over 90#s. Lucky for the dog the cat was smarter than him . It circled back behind him and went the other way. I was living in Union at the time and mentioned it to one of the oldtimers the guy told me there was a good population in the area..They are very shy. Personally I wouldn't even worry about bears or cats...It's the Wolves that could be a problem...and yes we do have Wolves here in NH..I have ran into them as far south as Strafford and Farmington. _Not_ a fun experience after dark.

Here's a daytime shot. Mea Culpa AC/e. I knew you'd never post them.. lol
To: Rev. Lou Chenary
Well, she discribed this one very well.. She said it was a good four feet sitting, and had the square lion face and no tufts around the ears.. No spots of any kind, light beige in color.. Doesn't sound like a Bobcat or Lynx.. We've had both in this neighborhood.. This one was biiig..
To: grannie9; acnielsen guy
Gran, those pics of ACs are great...why was he hesitant to post them, I wonder? they are fabulous, so very full of color...And you are right, the kiddies are great...
Thanks for posting them...
To: andysandmikesmom
He was going to delete them.. I grabbed them first.. Can't help it if I'm a thief... I just had to have them..lol
To: palo verde
Well, your last post was hysterical...you got called an idiot, because of not noticing the black strap, Bill did not take you swimming, then he gets his film, and it does not matter about the black strap, as the camera in general has some problems...then Bill gets remorseful, and decides to take Palo to the other pool for a swim, only there is a swim meet going on....so all Palo got, was called an idiot, and a shower...
Sounds like you had a rough time....well, now at least you know, either get the old camera fixed, or invest in another one....the really nice things about cameras tho, is that they run the gamut of prices from really reasonable to very expensive...so Bill will have his choice of cameras, or decide to see if he really wants to fix you dads camera...
To: grannie9
Well, I am glad you grabbed them, before he deleted them..they are really delightful, I just cannot imagine why he wanted to get rid of them...
To: grannie9
Probably a lion type cat...I just call them Cats.
With the building boom going on down your way I could just imagine all the different critters wandering out of the woods.
Still building houses and Walmarts like there is no tommorrow up this way to...I'm going to have to move to Pittsburg for peace and quiet before to long :(
To: Rev. Lou Chenary
Ahhh.. you just want to go snowmobiling..and you call that peace and quiet? Pittsburg is nothing but the pits unless you like sledding..
To: andysandmikesmom
I think men are all a little color blind.. ;)
To: andysandmikesmom; acnielsen guy

Here's one more different shot.. Note the little boys tongue third from left. LOL You can't see it that well in the other photo..
To: grannie9; All
Thanks for snagging those pics. Sometimes I fear the Captain gets into his grog, or his two lesbians, a bit much and gets his thinking clouded. What color and power is in the first one - it looks like something from our southwest, or maybe Mexico. Good job.
Thanks for the NH update Lou - PETA's dream come true. Stop all the hunting, make more areas off limits for humans, and have the creatures come to town for their human meals. We still have plenty of white-tail deer, possum, skunks, and God knows what else wandering around our very urban neighborhood. No bears or lions though, thank goodness.
Palo, tell Bill to shake himself and get off your ass about his antique camera. Good grief. You're a writer, not a photographer for crying out loud.
Did you look at the Hot Specials at biggerbetterbargains.com? They had some really inexpensive digital cameras for sale there. With our recession, I would also suggest looking in the local daily classifieds for folks who are wanting to make the house payment and not take pictures.

Another great shot...ever notice, little kids, especially the boys, can hardly do anything, unless they are working their tongue...
I think color blindness is much more prominent in men, then in women....some men are so color blind, that their wives need to put their clothes out for them, otherwise they would look dreadful...
To: andysandmikesmom; lodwick
Yes.. I read about men being color blind.. I do think some see things differently color wise than wimmin.. Especially when they try to match plaids and checks.. lol
Flame war.. I'd better go to bed now... 8-0
Yes.. that first one is what set me on fire.. Wow, what color..
To: lodwick; acnielsen guy
That old AC/e.. He just doesn't see what good pics he takes.. We're going to have to smarten that old boy up.. lol
To: grannie9
I worked with a gal whose dad was color blind, and she said, they always laughed when he dressed himself, as he looked like he was wearing something a clown would put togtether...
They always had to make sure that he passed their inspection, before he went out into public...they did not want him to look like a fool..
But as home, they just let him dress as he pleased, and often his combinations were enough to send them into laugh hysterics...
