AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 570) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | August 13, 2002 | All of Us

Posted on 08/13/2002 4:06:06 AM PDT by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter and we will not fail! [President Bush]

Good Morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

The Justice Department has annouced that, beginning September 11, 2002, thousands of foreign visitors, mostly from Mideast and Arab countries, will be fingerprinted and photographed at the border.

Back in June, it is now being revealed, Martha Stewart approached a House panel through an aide. She asked the Panel to issue a statement clearing her. The spokesman for the House Energy and Commerce Committee said they were "stunned."

There is a report circulating on Drudge that says the United States will, if necessary, seize Arab airports by force to allow an offensive against Iraq. Diplomatic sources, according to the Drudge report, say that Arab countries should take America's war preparations very seriously.

A high-ranking Administration official has confirmed the United States received reports yesterday from an unnamed foreign government that Al Qa'eda was planning to hit major United States targets. Some locations suggested were the Golden Gate Bridge, the Brooklyn Bridge, and a "major landmark" in Chicago. The official was careful to point out these were not confirmed "targets" but rather possibilities.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

Talking about police and drunk drivers, daughter dated a boy once who went out on the town to several bars. On the way home he saw a patrolman who had pulled a car over for speeding, pulled in behind the police car and turned himself in for DUI. I STRONGLY suggested she find someone else to date.

What a day, what a day, it was cloudy but hot on top of that tractor and it seemed like forever to finish cutting 'the farm', I am 'bushed' from head to toe, even my eyebrows are tired. I just wanted to check in and its off to take another shower, bug spray won't come off, so it feels, fix a bitetaeat, drink a coke and off to bed. See ya so, nite, nite, don't let the bed bugs bite.

Bush Kills $5.1B Security Bill

I think this is the bill that #97 was begging for an invite to Crawford to lobby for.

I must say that I don't understand some of the things he's setting as priorities but all in all I think this is a good thing.

Indeed, Bush said he was sending a message to Congress, which gave him an all-or-nothing choice on the $5.1 billion slice of an emergency spending bill that he signed into law little more than one week ago.

"A lot of that money has nothing to do with national emergency," Bush said Tuesday. "I understand their position and today they're going to learn mine - we'll spend none of it."

Oh, Sweetie! It seems like everything is going wrong in your life right now ...... except for one thing. I'm so sorry!

And on a much lighter note ...... the boss can't cut my pay because I don't have a salary ..... I guess she'll just make me work late tonight.

And for now, I'm off to the grocery store.

Apologies, Doggie, but UGH! I hate grocery shopping!

Yeah, I have a real problem with $200 million MORE dollars for AIDS prevention. They already get the bulk of medical money in the US budget, and misuse it.

That's the thing that particularly bothers me. And I certainly don't see where it fits into a security bill.

I will say that I may have been a bit hasty in linking that thread ...... someone has questioned the source and has a valid point. There's nothing on the White House web site yet about this.

Yes, I finally got the miracle cream. So far, it's making things worse but I'm waiting to see the long-term effects. I was told it might take 3-4 weeks.

illstillbe often refers to having us all in her pockets....Today I felt like you guys arrived in a package from Amazon.com! I finally got an order that I placed in June and in it was:

"How to Speak Dog" ....(illstillbe.....I love it that the author owns a Cavalier!)
"The Professional Chef" The Culinary Institutes textbook....what a gorgeous book, john!
"Gorgiana, Duchess of Devonshire" ....a Miss Marple reccomendation
"Final Dawn over Jerusalem" .....gc, weren't you talking about this one?

It wasn't until later in the day, that it dawned on me that all of these books I had ordered because of what I had read on ATRW!

OK, I need some help, please. I'm cleaning out the basement and preparing for a move, and I am swimming in music.....sheet music and books of music that is. Could you guys suggest to me the way that you organize, categorize and store your music? It's bad enough that I have all of the piano music that I've bought and collected for myself for the piano and violin. But over time, I've also kept all of the sheet music my paternal grandmother had for the piano. She was a piano teacher her whole life, and some of this sheet music is from before the turn of the past century. My maternal grandfather had a dance band in the 30's and 40's and I have a good amount of his band's music as well. None of it do I seem to be able to part with, but what to do with it? Suggestions are welcome!

Hello CR! Yes, this a great site for book titles. Utah Girl reads quite a few, too.

I enjoyed the Georgiana book quite a bit.

And you will, too, because of the discussion of the politics of the time she lived: quite wild, and Georgiana was immersed in it.

Just more doctoring stuff - My hubby had a rash on his right leg that would not go away. The dermatologist finally prescribed Triamcinolone Acetonide Ointment, which not only cured the rash, but alleviated the itch that went with it.

You've probably tried this already, but thought I'd throw my 2 cents in. Nothing worse than a rash that won't go away and that itches to boot.

That's one of the ingredients in my new miracle cream. I've used it before with no success but Dr. Joe mixes it with something else that he claims is the miracle-working product ......... silvadene cream or something of the sort. My drugstore had to special order the stuff to make the goo for me.

Hi Molly!

I'm back reading the last two days' threads. I'm getting the condo painted this week, and so I'm behind on freeping! Any suggestions you have on the sheet music would be very welcome!

Well, I'm also an old librarian...How do you wish to access your music?

IOW, by title, by the type, vocal, instrumental, etc, by composer....

The library I keep for the singing group is all choral, so it is arranged alphabetically by title - disregard initial "a", "an", "the" -, except for a separate Christmas section.

Also, you could divide the collections from the individual pieces, and arrange within each section by whatever method you choose.

Our church library is all choral, and arranged by title.

Or you could primarily arrange by kind of music: jazz, show tunes, etc. and within those types, arrange by title.

It's really up to you!

Familiarize yourself with it all, and think about it logically, which I'm sure you can do as a good conservative! LOL!

ML and ohio should have some excellent ideas for you, too.

One thing, if you want to preserve the music: Remove any paper clips from the paper., and if you mend anything, get some archival tape at a craft store!

Good evening, jtill!

I picked up Vertigo at the library today, so I could go back and look at the SF and the mission scenes...

That is a fascinating movie!

Oops!

Husband needs the computer.

Thanks so much, Molly. Now, for my next question.....what to store it in? Because this collection covers such an expanse of time, the sizes are all different. For example, the early 1900's sheet music of Grandma's for the piano, are of a non-standard paper size. Not that any are the same, exactly, but the one I just measured is 10 3/4" x 13 3/4". I'd like to be able to store them so that I can use them, however, these ones are a lot more crumbly and fragile than the one's I've bought. (And they haven't been properly taken care of over the years!)

And I knew that being both a librarian and a musician, you would be particularly helpful with my problem!
