When I lived in Laguna Beach, I often walked to the cove at dawn to enjoy the quiet beach, and I would climb into hollows of the cliff to sit unseen, just being part of the scene. Your poem isn't about the ocean but it surely took me back to those magic times. Loved it; thanks!

This poem, above all others which you have pinged me to (for which I am eternally grateful), stirs in me a desire to
hear you read your words.
The poem is lovely.
The poet, like his choice words
Shines: pearls in moonglow.
Thank you so much for sharing these treasures.

This is so beautiful. Thanks, Sabertooth. Can it be about something simple, lovely and profound as dragonflies?
Like children of the reeds before the flight, Past yesterday we'll scale through croaking calls.
We have dragonflies of every color here in SW Florida. They live for a year under the water as shrimp-like creatures, feeding on tiny fish and such, only to climb by some instinct up those "reeds" one day, shed their skins and become dragonflies...able to rise above those frogs awaiting dinner on the lily pads. Tails curl when shedding their skins, and when paired in their lovely mating flights.
My neighbor used to "charm" giant dragonflies into landing on his hand. At age 5 I wanted to marry him. Such is the power of a poetic soul, much stronger than cheese. (^:
