I served him the steak I cooked to calm him down
now he's burying it
that dog is weird!

some of the steak is still there, I just cut it up to bite sized pieces so he couldn't bury the rest of it
Instead of going over and eating the steaky, Lulu is moaning for her krafts singles
she is weird too, but in nother way

o some normality
after she had her krafts singles, she helped herself to steakbone and ate up rest of steak
since Happy buried all his steak
he is licking out dog food cans for his snack
it is like loony bin doghouse

Just like Helga...noise, wind, firecrackers, sudden moves...all those used to scare my big old Bully, a big Rottweiler mixed breed...he was big, and scared of everything, and would crawl up into my lap, at the smallest sound, just shivering...

The whole world could explode, and if Helga was deeply involved in her sleep and snoring mode, she did not move a muscle...

Bassets dont concern themselves with such mundane matters...they have their priorities straight...if it does not involve food, sleep, walks, and telling off the outside world, they are not interested...

Well, the son just pulled up...I guess he is down here, either visiting with the girlfriend, or discussing kayaking trips with his kayaking bud....

I guess he is stopping in to see me for a brief visit, tho I really suspect, he just wants to see Dizzy....

Outclassed by a cat...

Well, that was quick...the son ran in, ruffled my hair, picked up Dizzy and squeezed and pet him, grabbed a coke, said goodbye, and ran out...

I guess he was in a hurry, just wanted to drop in and say a very quick hello...

Poor Happy, he will need some doggie Valium...

I hope this does not offend anyone but it kind of reminds me of my mother.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The old lady was standing at the railing of the cruise ship holding her hat on tight so that it would not blow off in the wind.
A gentleman approached her and said: "Pardon me, madam. I do not intend to be forward, but did you know that your dress is blowing up in this high wind?"
"Yes, I know," said the lady, "I need both hands to hold onto this hat."
"But, madam, you must know that your privates are exposed!" said the gentleman in earnest.
The woman looked down, then back up at the man and replied, "Sir, anything you see down there is 85 years old. I just bought this hat yesterday!"
Gotta get offline for just a short time...need to use the phone to call for our motel reservations for this weekend...
I always like to see Helga, after she had a big drink...always, inevitably, her long ears would wind up in the water bowl, and she was just a big sweet slobbering mess, with wet ears to boot...
Bassets are adorable, no matter what...
Thats a funny one Loddy...be sure to check out my fudge story, in a previous posting...
This old lady story joke reminds me of an old lady story I have to tell someday, about what my grandmother once did to an old lady on a train(My grandmother at the time was probably an old lady as well, but the old lady she acted upon, was even older)
A young man excitedly tells his mother he's fallen in love and is
going to get married. He says, "Just for fun, Mom, I'm going to
bring over two other female friends in addition to my fiancée,
and you have to try and guess which one I'm going to marry."
The next day, he brings 3 beautiful women into the house and sits
them down on the couch and they chat for a while. He then says,
"Okay, Mom. Guess which one I'm going to marry."
She immediately replies, "The red-head in the middle."
"That's amazing! You're right, how did you know?"
His mother folds her arms across her chest and says, "I don't
like her."
Thanks for the wonderful stories today - so poignant.
I believe that all critters, even people, know when it's time to go and will express it to us. We have to love them enough, and respect their wishes when it is their time to leave.
About three years ago, when I started freeping almost full-time, one of the dogs started making the most plaintiff, Come Quickly Daddy sound that I'd never heard. I rushed out to the living room and there was our kittie, who had sinus cancer which was closing off his oxygen over the years, spinning around on the floor, and trying to get a breath.
I revived and calmed him, held him close to me, and I swear to you, in his kittie voice let me know that it was time for him to cross over the RainBow Bridge and wait for me and Mrs.lodwick. I'll never forget the pleading look in his eyes as he labored for breath and told me make it stop for him here.
I could hardly see to drive as I went to the vet. I can hardly see to type the end of this report.
We'll be with you soon enough Ernie.
