Have you read the actual ecision or are you quoting a reporter?
This thing won't ever be neforced on anyone, because an apeal has already been filed, the ruling is held in abeyance and it will be overturned.
And Frankly I am on the fathers side.
I have always hated the change. it was a sop by Ike and congress to a bunch of so called Christian Southern Bigots who were ion their way from the John Birch Society Meeting to the Klan Rally. Adding the phrase was a shameful and cowardly act.

No religion is threatened by that inclusion Betwween Africa, India and Southeast Asia there are close to 2 billion polytheists on Earth. They are left out. Or maybe they aren't really people.

;-) I'm thinking Texas.
As Sam Houston observed, "Texas can exist without the United States, but the United States cannot exist without Texas."
Interesting observation Sam. I like it.

This is America -- and saying "under God" does not threaten polytheists

Good grief, Swervie, here you go again:
It P!SSED ME OFF IN 1954, and I still hate it. It makes the whole pledge awkward and ugly as it is spoken. Why don't we stick "Under God" into the Star Spangled Banner in a few spots. It wouldn't screw it up any worse than it did the pledge. O thus be it ever when free-men shall stand Between their lov'd home and the war's desolation; Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us a nation! Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto: In God is our trust! And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Uh Swervie, old Francis Scott Key already did put God in there. Shall we exhume his body and read him your ridiculous rant? You have been P.O.'d since 1954? Take something. Geesh!

Not a smart move Swervie

I am still PO'd at the editing of the Book of Common Prayer over 100 years ago and the leaving of the Apocrapha out of the King James Bible. I hate any muchoin with tradition. Traditions are the most important thing there is

Nonsense. No, it isn't. The whole thing was a sop to the Birchers and Jesus Freaks in the far right of the Republican Party. They had been Taft people and never liked or Trusted Ike or most Republicans in Congress. This was also a payoff to them and to Right wing Christian Democrats who went for Ike.
