The chemical creosote use to be used to preserve wood...It is a no no now. We have an old timber processing place up here that has to be cleaned up for polluting the enviroment....

How is Steve preparing? He's getting some much-needed rest. Confidence is high in Mission Control, and everything is running smoothly, thus Steve is taking advantage of the lull in the action.
Currently, located at 51 degrees south and 70 degrees west, Bud Light Spirit of Freedom is flying at 55.6 miles per hour (89.5 km per hour) and at 24,800 feet (7,559 meters). Fossett has now flown 9,406.2 miles (15,137.4 kilometers) since his launch from Northam, Australia, just over eight days ago.

Candy is over in her Daddy's office. After she gets her morning treat, she proceeds to the huge cage she uses as her apartment in her Daddy's office for her morning nap. There is another bed in my office, and she takes her afternoon nap here with me. Sometimes it's hard not to join her. :)
