Bassets are extremely stubborn, and rarely listen to their food slaves(Bassets dont have owners, they have food slaves)...

Some people actually get rid of bassets, because altho they loved their looks, they just have a hard time coping with a dog that is so stubborn...

And their nose is probably second only to the bloodhound...when they catch a scent, off they go, and they will not pay attention to you...they must be kept on a leash, otherwise, they will take off(as Palo well knows, from experience with Lulu), and go where the scent leads them...

The dog across the street from us, named Violet, is 1/2 basset and 1/2 beagle...she has the porky body of a basset, tho her legs are not as short as a bassets, and her ears are not as long as a bassets...

But she has the barrel chest, and she is one of the most stubborn dogs I have ever seen...she is stubborn and brazen, and listens to no one...she has her own mind, and thinks humans know nothing...that proves she is part basset...

Whining and squeaking is part of their ploy to suck you in, and make you give them what they want...

Beats buzzards and dusty windswept, arid Mexican vacation land ;-)

I never in this world took you for a possible Baja fan..It's just not a land for salad spinners and shorts ironers....lol...
.....Westy..(:-)...

HaHa...one of their dogs had a sweet and fetching whine. The Golden Lab laid her head on my arm and stared into my face, then licked my arm a lot. The littlest one just danced around for joy. I go there fairly often - the husband was a movie star way back - his name is Joe Kirkwood. His pics as a young man look familiar and he was friends with many male stars I recognize but I can't remember any of HIS movies. It's hard to get any work done with beautiful dogs working their wiles!!

a sweet and fetching whine does not sound like Lulu
her whine is identically as effective as her walking on my head
Happy looks at me pleadingly, and licks my elbow
but if I don't hop to, he does prussian bark
and goes into his german sheperd dance (two steps forward, two back)

You mean you don't rinse and dry your salads? It must be part of the "pull socks up" cookbook you were raised on ;-)

HaHa - now THERE'S a solution. But the stores are closed now, and if I want a laptop, I'll have to go steal someone's. Then, let myself be apprehended and I'll have a secure, cool jail cell with cot. I think you're onto something there, friend.

I case you didn't notice, i didn't see many power lines from westy's travelogue, what with the beautiful outhouses ;-)So, i don't think I'll be able to find an outlet to iron my shorts ;-)

I agree with westy
a laptop would be ideal to take with you
why are you gonna take your big puter
you won't have place to set it up there, will you

Look what I found in Google:

Movies: The Marriage-Go-Round (1960) Humphrey Takes a Chance (1950) Terry and The Pirates/Joe Palooka Story Flash Gordon (1957)/The Joe Palook Story (1954)

Those are listed as Joe Kirkwood, Jr. movies. Then he started planning and building golf courses. Mostly inHawaii. I don't think I've seen any of those movies. Have any of you?

Nope, I don't wash and dry my salads...Just take a bowl full out of the plastic bag they come from the store in, add some diced Jicama and pour some Newmans original dressing over the heap, stir and eat..Pretty uncouth huh?

......Westy.(:-)...
