hi hair
wasn't garrison keillor's first book (Lake Woebegone?)
bout his conservative norwegian family
I found that book very funny
his parents were so conservative they didn't believe women should wear pants

didn't believe women should wear pantsThat's pretty wild, I don't think that is being conservative in the least. Or do you mean slacks?...lol...

hi westy
my mom said that when a woman and man wanted to have sex with each other they got married
that this is why she married my dad after knowing him only two weeks (two dates!)
she married in 1943
I agree with you that in the'60s living in sin became ok
(lol I did it)

Garrison Keillor tells a lot of stories about Norwegian Lutheran families from Minnesota... Yes, I think he has been eavesdropping on my family conversations!

Went out to clean stalls... see if shoveling horse poo would sober me up a little. But I am still giggling.
Now that it is staying light out so late the horses are wondering why I keep delaying their dinner. But I don't want to put them inside when it is still light. It just isn't right.

hi hair, I love that book cause of understanding it gave me about norwegian lutheran familes
I know he was furious at his family when he wrote it
and the book is hysterical
even tho in one way my family could not be more different
(my parents were atheist socialist jewish new yorkers)
in another way I totally identified, cause my parents did not identify with the mainstream
plus it made me feel so close and intimate with conservative norwegian lutherans
(I got to love them)

That's the thing - I am not even drinking!... just goofy as heck tonight. I think it was the story... and all the weird conversations I am having.
I may have finally snapped.

what's hard to understand?
the sixties came in and brought free sex
people still get married
but look at habs, he doesn't wanna marry, he doesn't want his girlfriend to move in with him
he likes having separate apartments
maybe there's just more freedom, so individuals can do what works for them
just cause marriage works for me, doesn't mean it works for everyone

maybe it's the energy?
something seems to have changed

Chrissie posted her own post

brought free sexIs it really free though? Think it brings along some baggage with it. One way or another...'But What do I know'.....
