Fine son you have there, Valerie. You are justifiably proud.

Hi cg... that nasty klez virus got me, too -- but my computer is fine now.
I haven't watched a horse race in years.

Thanks catpuppy. I'll have to find something for his birthday and get it in the mail Monday. Last year he was home, he didn't leave for boot camp until the end of the month, and I fixed him a big salmon dinner. I'm planning to see him the first part of June, but maybe we'll wait and go there for the Fourth of July. I have to talk to him again before I can change plans.

Derby Day is sad to me this year. It makes me miss my family more than usual. I guess it's the Kentucky blood. Before Tyler was even a year old, he perked right up when the gate call was made. It's kind of a family tradition in my family to get together on Derby Day in one way or another.

We just got back from the movie, and it was better than the Superman movies (which got really lame). I think I liked the movie better than the kids did. They are not readers, and readers appreciate a good story better.

Since I was bitten the other day, by one of those genetically enhanced RattBots that they have used to navigate those mazes by remote control, my neurotransmitters have been transmitting at a speed faster than the speed of light. This causes me to have a form of prescience, a 'Ratty Sense,' if you will.

My Ratty Sense was tingling, and had already told me that you would LOVE this flick. It is character driven, with plenty enough action to keep you from getting drowsy.

I KNEW Tobey Maguire would make a good Spiderman, and now, I can't imagine anybody else who could have played Spiderman as well as Maguire did.

It was wholesome too. EXCEPTIONALLY well done, and VERY true to the comic book, right down to Jonah Jameson at the newspaper always trying to make Spidey out to be the Bad Guy. Having Willem Dafoe playing the Green Goblin didn't hurt either.

And NO hidden political agenda, except an underlying message of most everything that is GOOD in America.

I can get your ratty sense tingling from this great distance? You better not get any closer to me, you would tingle all over constantly. *LOL*

This movie is totally suitable for everyone. I like movies that families can see together without getting embarrassed or without the parents being bored silly with dumb kid stuff.
Dafoe is so freaky-looking, he was born to be a comic book villain, and the guy playing his son looked like his son.
Even though the movie was 2 hrs 15 minutes, it never dragged, nor did it have a frenetic pace that makes you dizzy. Though I felt a bit dizzy a couple of times because I'm not good with heights.
I agree Peter Parker was perfectly cast. Anyone could have played Mary Jane, it didn't matter, but Dunst was okay.

The last shot of Spidey clinging to a flag pole with a giant American flag waving was COOL.

Yeah, but October's Breeders Cup World Championship for the Classic was won by an American horse TIZNOW! And the horses (2000 and 2001) he beat were a lot better horse than War Emblem. He is the only horse to have won the Classic twice and did it back to back......lowly lil ol Cal bred!!!! :)

"Just our luck to have an American horse beat by an arab horse"

They're big on our horse races. They always have a horse in the Derby it seems. I hate hearing that one won though.

I hope none of your relatives were staying in this iron bar hotel last night:

Fire broke out at a county jail in the mountains of western North Carolina, killing eight inmates who were trapped inside and injuring 13 other people, authorities said.
The cause of the fire still hadn't been determined Saturday morning. Nine Mitchell County jail inmates and three employees were being treated at hospitals, and a firefighter suffered smoke inhalation, authorities said.
Mark Broadway, the public information officer for Mitchell County, said the fire was reported just after 10 p.m. Friday. The jailer who called for help said about 15 inmates were trapped inside their cells.

Not gonna touch that. Breast enlargement is just one of those things that never made any sense to me...but then I needed a bra at 11.
