But there are worse advocates of this stuff (like their friends). The big problem is when they get stupid enough to go beyond the leafy stuff and experiment indiscriminately.

We had a relative our age who never came back from his drug experiences. He was around enough to scare the crap out of our kids.....

Our kids have freely admitted just watching him at family gatherings stopped them from trying stuff.

The one going into the Marines has straightened out finally.

That's good cause the military has a real no tolerance policy and the brig is nothing like alternative school. A 'Less Than Honerable' discharge means you will never make above minimum wage in your life. That is one of the reasons I was glad when my son enlisted.

I am not condoning your kids doing drugs in this day and age, I am just suggesting that if you can't get them to quit, a fall back position is to teach them to be savy enough not to get busted.

They are out to prove that doing weed won't lead to the harder stuff --- I wish they were out to prove that they are productive citizens, but that's out of the question until they get a clue.
Last year's valedictorian at high school graduation gave a whole speech in favor of marijuana legalization.

I did a LOT of my own underage drinking and "stuff" - and I grew up eventually. It's too soon to write these boys off -- they have a few more years before they grow up. It's not the way it should be - but it's the way it is.

Marijuana is not the gateway drug, beer is. Everyone I knew smoked it in the 60s. We all started with beer and then went on to marijuana. When opponents make stupid statements about marijuana that every teen knows are lies it just encourages them to believe that everything said about drugs is a lie.

FOFL. Good Luck, Mo ! That's exactly how we celebrated "Earth Day" by cranking up the grill. All of those wonderful smells floating all over the neighborhood. Yum. It was a thing of beauty. LOL. Something tells me the greenies or the PETA folks wouldn't have been pleased with our efforts. hehe

You can't expect kids to behave like adults, none of us did, but if one of them in the military is caught doing anything but beer, his life is finished. They give no second chances and you can ask CP about the cost of a 'Less Than Honerable' Discharge.
