I think you are right if self-proclaimed republicans refuse to vote for Bush over one issue. But would they vote for a democrat who is even more in favor of the same issue? No way! They are either dems pretending to be republican just to stir the nest or are just so darn mad right now. The best thing to do is ride it out because it is such an important issue for so many of us. Just debate the issue with kid gloves rather than push them in another direction. I feel, rather than abandoning my party, to stick it out and try to make it better. The "other" party is a lost cause.

Just before I go catpuppy - it seems strange to me that you have to do something "backwards" just to end up making it go "forwards". If they had people in the Congress and Senate that were COMMITTED to real Conservatism, there would be no need for such convoluted behaviour. I see it as rather stoopid rather than brilliant. I pray that a lot more people stop splitting their votes (you demo - locally) and repupb - federally!! I got this in my email from my dad and I immediately thiought of you Mo!

BAKED STUFFED CHICKEN

INGREDIENTS:
6-7 lb. chicken
1 cup melted butter
1 cup stuffing
1 cup uncooked popcorn
salt/pepper to taste

Follow directions carefully.

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Brush chicken well with melted butter, salt and pepper.
3. Fill cavity with stuffing and popcorn.
4. Place in baking pan with the neck end toward the back of the oven.
5. Listen for popping sounds.

When the chicken's ass blows the oven door open and the chicken flies across the room, it is done .

Yes, but.... when a RINO withholds their vote for a Republican they might as well be voting for the Democrats. It's risky business because no matter how it goes they're getting something they say they don't want. Either a Republican they didn't like and wouldn't vote for or they're getting a Democrat which supposedly they didn't like and wouldn't vote for.
