We have to win the Senate with a margin sufficient to maintain the majority when McCain jumps after the upcoming election.
Agreed. After the election, we can undo everything Bush HAD to do, to disarm the Demonrats.
To: Darlin'
I agree with you on McCain jumping parties. I just surprised that he hasn't done it already. I wouldn't be surprised if he did it soon and ran for President as a Democrud!
To: Canadian Outrage
But you can't be any more sure of that than any of us can.
True. And I do wish he would slap down the Rats and veto it, but he has said he will sign it. I am assuming that he knows more about his plan than I do, and up until he know he HAS whipped the Rats senseless.

Many people go all over the world to adopt because it is so hard to get babies here. Had I not been able to have my own babies, I'd have no problem adopting a mixed child. Rosie gave one child back that she said was too hard to handle. Most of us don't get to pick out perfect kids. Mine were brats as often as not. My sister has a retarded, autistic son who is everything to her. People aren't THAT selfish; we just hear more about them from liberals who need a sympathetic platform, but who don't perform themselves.

Jeffords stole McCain's ship-jumping thunder and extortion power, yet they still act as if he has that power.
To: Canadian Outrage
Yjat's right, he said he would.... but as far as I know he didn't sign it yet. So those fools on that thread are slamming him for something that he hasn't done yet. I've read some of the post on that thread and for the most part it's the same doubting Thomases who say the same thing everyday about a different issue. I submit that they probably didn't vote for him in the first place. Furthermore, if they're so easily mislead and so reactionary then they're no better than Democrats. I say good, leave, get the Heck out of the party, quit smelling up the place and for God's sake quit calling yourselves Republicans.

Yeah I know Val but McCain STILL wants to be President and I don't think he could win another nomination as a Republican. Besides he's now the Hero of at least the Democruds and 11 Republicans!! Mind you, he sure doesn't look like a healthy man. He looks very lumpy in the cheeks and swollen. Every time I see him I wonder if they got all the cancer.
To: Darlin'
Ya think so Trish??? A lot of them sounded like they had voted for him. Maybe I'm reading them wrong. But I read it differently. The Republican party would do better to deal CONCLUSIVELY with the Senate. NOW that stinks!!
To: ValerieUSA
Valerie, I think he'll jump. First, he knows the Republican party has had it with him. Second, it's the only way that he can regain and maintain the media attention he lusts after.

Yeah, I believed he would jump, too -- he hasn't yet because Jeffords stole the spotlight -- and look where it got him! He's way way OUT of the spotlight now, and McCain may realize that that could happen to him, too. What's another liberal Democrat to the media? Not nearly as interesting and heroic as a liberal troublemaker in the Republican party.
To: ValerieUSA
Val - don't you think he still "lusts" after the Presidency tho?? I don't think he'll ever make it because of health. But if he were in good health, I think he could be a worry.
To: Canadian Outrage
Yeah, he wants to be king -- but he isn't going to live that long.
To: Darlin'
First, he knows the Republican party has had it with him.
I think his own state has about had it with him. They don't know who he is and what he stands for anymore. Ohio has it share of liberal republicans and it sickens me that I might end up voting for them. The worst scenario for me the next presidential election cycle is voting for the lesser of two evils. So far, that isn't happening but that doesn't mean I should throw caution to the wind. Other than wanting to rid the WH of anything Clintonesque, I had my wish list for Bush. If I only get half my wishes I will be happy. I know I don't want to lose any more freedoms.

I think Ratty is right but I also know that the purpose of each party in the Senate has always been to thwart efforts to reform campaign finance. When one party makes it an issue, it is understood that the other will kill the bill. This time they just both took it as an issue (McCain) and so it managed to get passed, but with enough gaps and unconstitutional items to allow the same old cozy money gathering. Trust me. It never would have passed if they believed it would ever be enforced.
To: Canadian Outrage
Trust me, Lynn. I know the Bush Bashers here pretty well. I've made a point of reading those threads even though they both anger and sicken me. I've worked in government and politics and I've dealt with a ton of do-nothing blowhards just like them. I don't have any use for those fair weather, RINOs who use the threat of withdrawing their support (support=vote) over every issue. Most of them are woefully ignorant or impotent or both. If they had any juice they'd be doing something productive rather than sitting on their behinds and bashing the President.

Yes, people do want these babies Yes, as long as the babies are white and not handicapped or retarded. Otherwise it is the orphans home or foster homes for life

Rosie gave back the disturbed child she took in -- the queers don't want them, either. Those kids especially need a mom and a dad - they have enough strikes against them already without being given over to pervs.

Yes, I agree with you.

I look at that lump on the side of his head and figure he won't live to run in '04. He is just playing spoiler cause it is the only thing he has left to do in life.
