Elon's comment to spin up Amazon competitor isn't a fluke... Amazon has major problems...Amazon has become a Chinese flea market operating inside an American distribution empire... 55.9% of its top 10,000 sellers are now China based, while American entrepreneurs invest in developing products, building brands, proving demand and creating the very markets that overseas competitors move in to capture...
The pattern is well documented... an American inventor develops something successful, Chinese knockoffs flood the marketplace, prices collapse, original listings get hijacked, and fraudulent intellectual property complaints can even force legitimate sellers offline...
Forearm Forklift watched revenue and American jobs disappear, Drop Stop fought Chinese made patent infringement, PopSockets took its counterfeit problems to Congress, and federal investigations have exposed fraudulent takedowns and insiders manipulating seller accounts...
All inside a marketplace where Amazon controls visibility, advertising, enforcement and access to the customer, collecting $172 billion in seller services and another $68 billion in advertising revenue annually...
Now Elon Musk suggests building an Amazon competitor after reports of Amazon blocking Grok purchasing bots... and suddenly this connects directly into the larger architecture I've been mapping around American manufacturing, tariffs, the elimination of de minimis exemptions, autonomous logistics, alternative financial rails and Super Intelligence (SI)...
Imagine verified American manufacturers connected directly to consumers through intelligent purchasing agents that authenticate product origins, protect intellectual property, compare actual value and bypass the machinery that allows innovators to be displaced inside their own marketplace...
With X potentially providing discovery, Grok providing intelligence and an entirely new commerce network connecting production, payments and delivery...
The implications reach far beyond Amazon... China has leveraged America's retail infrastructure to reach American consumers at extraordinary scale, while American innovators have become increasingly dependent on the same platform that exposes them to imitation and marketplace abuse...
I've been mapping the rebuilding of America's sovereign industrial stack from production through distribution... Musk's comment opens another potential front, connecting that machinery directly to the American household...
America creates the product... the next battle is over who controls the marketplace, the purchasing decision and ultimately the economic value of American innovation...

We’ve been loyal customers for decades. We didn’t even know there ARE coupons.
I concur.
Boy I have found some quality Chinese goods.
Things I could never get in the United States.
Interesting. Either that doesn’t show up when I shop, or I just was oblivious. I’ll have to pay more attention in the future. The marinara looks delicious!
After 4 (four) fake AMZN oil filters I’m ready. These unscrupulous sellers say “Yup fits your 2009 Camry 2.4L no problem. What’s received appears to be the smallest possible oil filter for a car. Half the size of the installed oil filter.
I’m reduced to taking a cellphone pic of the installed filter and matching to the Toyota genuine filter. A few bucks more but it fits and is legit.
Temu is risky. But I have the best shorts I’ve ever owned from them. Only have two pairs. One is worn and the other is in the laundry. I live in FL which is shorts weather 10+ months a year. Nothing like taking the Waverunner out in the first week of February in ‘80s temps (and hiding inside in the A/C July - Sept)
I ordered a $500 robot vacuum cleaner for $100. Thankfully, it’s not Chinese. The other item I ordered is gonna take weeks to come to my house. I will assume that’s Chinese.
Yes. The Japanese adopted Deming’s work and methods quickly and enthusiastically. It led to “kaizen”.
In 1947, Deming went to Japan to help enhance their production processes. He stressed that quality should be prioritized at every stage of production, achieved through statistical process control. Deming is particularly recognized for his PDCA cycle—Plan, Do, Check, Act—which advises stopping production when deviations occur to identify and resolve issues before continuing. During his time in Japan, he trained hundreds of engineers, managers and executives in his approach.
It’s too bad they are suffering from serious low replacement birth rates.
We do quite a bit of our pet food purchasing through an outstanding feed store in Scotts Valley, CA. The difference between food for us and our pets is the infrequency of our visits to town. I probably leave the property only a few times per month.
“Amazon has become a Chinese flea market.” True, and I am sick of it. I hate Chinese products since the quality is poor. Elon should sell products with “Made in USA” labels.
Lots of times, the red dot (Indians) in the warehouse switch out the news stuff for their broken stuff.
It has happened to me twice.
The new name brand security cameras I had ordered came to me used and the wrong brand (cheap Chinese knockoffs) but in the name brand box.
It would be far more fun to have my deliveries made by rocket. (as long as the parachutes or thrusters reliably deploy)
Why did you pick 60%? Why not 80%? Why not 1000%? You are FOS
You should move to China.
Amazon should be required to pop up a button at purchase that says “ you are buying a Chinese made product, continue?”
Move there.
Move there.
