Young teenagers are less likely to identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual than they were a few years ago, according to a new analysis of Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data.
The decline is particularly striking among ninth-grade girls, according to Jean Twenge, a professor of psychology at San Diego State University who published her analysis of the 2025 data on her Substack “Generation Tech.” In 2021, 30 percent of ninth-grade girls identified as lesbian or bisexual. Last year, 17 percent did.
“It really does look like a free fall,” Twenge said. “But what’s causing it is unclear.”
Twenge has been researching generational differences for decades. As part of that work, she regularly analyzes data from the CDC’s biennial Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System.

What also changed was the USAID money the districts no longer get for the LGBTQWERTY+ headcount in the school districs.
A lot of them, such as a friend’s daughters, were faking being lesbian to avoid the peer pressure if they admitted they were completely abstinent or were attracted to boys.
In the case of my friend’s daughters, they were very turned off by male jealousy that their mother had to put up with from their Dad. He was so obsessed with her he became tyrannical with any purely non sexual , normal friendships their mother had with anyone, even normal friendship with women. She wasn’t interested in anyone but him but he couldn’t accept that. In the process he literally scared his daughters from having any interest in men because they assumed all men were that way - insanely possessive- and were a threat to their human liberty.
They did later admit their trial of lesbianism was never to their liking at all, but none of them had gone deeply into the sex of the gay scene. One said one time was enough to put the brakes on. But peer pressure made them fake a disdain for normal relationships.
It was the most stupid surveying I had seen up to that point.
And yes, it was all about money for the district for "anti-drug programs".

The trans fad got too crazy and burned itself out, as all fads do. This change in culture was later reflected in elective office holders.
There was considerable overlap of the mini skirt and hot pants fads.
It was a tough time to go through puberty.
