Why Ken Paxton’s Estranged Wife Is Making the Case for His Senate Campaign
New York Times ^ | October 7, 2026 | Beth Reinhard and Lisa Lerer

Posted on 10/08/2026 9:38:20 AM PDT by Miami Rebel

Again and again, throughout his long political career, Ken Paxton has gotten himself into trouble. Each time, his wife, Angela, has come to his defense.

In 2022, a process server trying to deliver a subpoena to Mr. Paxton, the Republican attorney general of Texas, said he watched Ms. Paxton drive him away from their home in a truck.

The next year, during Mr. Paxton’s impeachment trial, which aired multiple allegations of corruption and an extramarital affair, Ms. Paxton, a Republican state senator, sat stoically through the entire proceedings, which she later dismissed in a social media post as “all of this foolishness.”

And now, in the homestretch of the 2026 campaign, with polls showing Mr. Paxton trailing the Democrat James Talarico in the U.S. Senate race, Ms. Paxton is urging voters in a new television ad to back the entire Republican ticket — even as she is divorcing her husband and accusing him of adultery.

It is not just Mr. Paxton’s political future at stake. It is also her own.

Ms. Paxton, 63, has tried to build a political identity separate from her polarizing and scandal-plagued husband in Texas, staking out ground in policy debates over artificial intelligence, campaign finance reform, and social issues like abortion. Allies envision her running for statewide office in the future — regardless of whether Mr. Paxton is serving in Washington.

The new ad — in which Ms. Paxton never mentions his name — is a new and surreal chapter in the long-running saga of one of the most powerful attorneys general in the country. The decision to deploy Mr. Paxton’s soon-to-be ex-wife in this reliably red state reveals how precarious the Texas race has become for Republicans, as they fight to maintain control of the Senate.

I know a few couples who have divorced and are still friends.

Sometimes the love just doesn’t last… That doesn’t necessarily mean it will be replaced with hatred.

Your point is very well taken and very true.

I can’t believe that Texas would elect a freak like Talarico...

I’m concerned as I have Republican friends in Texas who express hatred for Paxton. Baffles me why he is so polarizing.

Ken's made a lot of enemies over the years. We've been forced into binary elections over the past twenty years, and this one certainly qualifies. There's a lot of bad blood from the primary, and Cornyn and his cronies continue to stoke the flames.

Many who voted for Paxton grew weary of Cornyn's affectation for the Swamp, instead of the Texas issues he was elected to promote. Ten of my extended family members are all voting for Paxton, we were there at his rally in McKinney a few weeks back. The message was clear: Cornyn stopped being for Texas.

You think President Trump and Republican donors don’t use polls to guide their efforts and dollars?

“Who says he is actually behind??” Every national pollster, including Fox, Rasmussen, and Trafalgar.

“”You believe that politicians (which Mrs. Paxton is) don’t make decisions based on politics?? How charmingly innocent of you.””

***

And where, exactly, did I say that? I know I haven’t had enough coffee yet, but I never said that her stance is not politics based. What Ms. Paxton is urging voters to do is the definition of a political-based decision. But it isn’t just to save her own position and job as the NYSlimes is implying. It is truly what is best and good for the citizens of Texas... ie to vote Republican, against the AH Democrats... and I know because I am one of those citizens that intends to do just that.

And come to think of it.. I have had this similar issue with you in the past... where you misconstrue my words. And I also notice that you are embracing the NYSlimes’ BS take on this (shocked, I tells ya!). So, how charmingly typical of you.

Angela is a good, moral person.
Ken is not.

Ken is not.

Liking a candidate is not a prerequisite for voting for him.

The bottom line is, which candidate is going for the things you want? That’s all Senators do.

Any time two politicians or two lawyers get married, there is a high probability of a divorce.

The Clinton’s are a rare exception because they have learned the art of pretending.

I say to the New York Times...

Believe all women!

When Angela Paxton supports her husband's candidacy, she knows better than anyone what he would be like as a Senator for Texas.

To all the pussy RINO’s who can’t vote for Ken axton because he’s not to your liking, welcome to the party... You now know what conservatives feel like having to vote for that POS Cornhole all these years. At least with Paxton we know we’ll get a conservative and a fighter... he’s a politician, not a pastor.

That, and as lawyers they know the value of spousal immunity against testifying against each other in a criminal court.

According to you only. But then, logical, common sense politics has apparently never been your forte.

BINGO!

This is absolutely common-sense politics. However Ken fares, this will keep Angela’s credentials burnished. Smart move!

Cool story, bro. To all the fopdoodles brabbling that they're going to stay home instead of voting R because "the lesser of two evils is still evil", you can't possibly compare a guy with a broken marriage to a cryptopedo-communist who wants to transition your kids, promote sharia, open the borders, and take your guns.

If you stay home, then YOU are the evil one.

The bottom line is, which candidate is going for the things you want? That’s all Senators do.

This is a fragment from the transcript of the Michael Berry show from yesterday:

James Talarico is melting down before our very eyes. He lied and told a group in Texas that last night he was in the urgent care when, in fact, he was in New York at a fundraiser. They've canceled their events. He's not showing in public in Texas, that there are some very intense things... and that's all I'm allowed to say for today. But it's going to get very, very interesting in the coming days.

They sent a Trojan horse in, and some of the pieces started peeking out. And Texans are realizing, hey, I don't have to... It's not your Valentine, right? We're not trying to fall in love with our candidate.

It's a strategic decision about our future and who's going to cast votes. That's all a senator does. Never forget this. Who's going to cast votes? You're going to see across the country that senators are going to say, "I have a plan to balance a budget and shut down the datacenters and bring American manufacturing back."

Okay.

Well, you're going to be a backbench senator on the committee to rename post offices for a very long time. By the time you are a subcommittee vice chairman of whatever... every issue that matters will have moved on. So your five-point plan to fix this and that... but the problem is the voter doesn't know this. The voter has no idea.
