I mentioned to JR several years ago the place was dying, he basically said, "So what? You don’t like it go someplace else."
Well guess what? JR is no longer here and since he has been gone donations have flat-lined.
To keep this place alive we need new members and we are never going to do it with the present site.
Look at the donations this month. Do you think FR will continue at this level of donations? If it does, that means we have been ripped off all these years at $240,000 a year.
Like you, I had a few discussions with JimRob. Even heated disagreements. But I always knew one thing: FR is HIS site, not mine. And I always respected that fact.
I am always amazed at the "Type A" people who jump in and try to run the place. You don't own the place. You're a member. You can go to other news sites, the ones with the bells, whistles, and fancy graphics.
You like to tout your time in service here - a classic response that you think gives you clout. It doesn't.
So, I want to say, "Thank you!" for prompting my response.
I'm making a long-overdue donation to the one news forum that doesn't bombard me with ads, gives me a variety of news and opinion pieces that I can quickly wade through, gives me the source up front, along with an introductory paragraph (so I don't waste time), lets me comment on articles and read other people's comments and opinions (even yours), and allows me to politely contend with people (like you).
As you know: you have choices. Choose.
Agree 100%...including posters who arrogantly call themselves the next Rush Limbaugh and abuse FR Rules to pimp their personal website.

I don’t know there are many other factors contributing to the lack of volume on this forum that have nothing to do with the poor politics from 25 years ago
More options and an aging audience here probably or even bigger factors to be honest
