The irony is though to defeat the in house destroyers of western civilization we really do need everybody including neoconservatives and Libertarians and Maga and Paleo, conservatives and traditional, religious conservatives and yes, even alter right little grain frog conservatives
Because the left is unified and wishes to replace our thousand year way of life with something crazy for a western Europe to America and Australia, New Zealand and Latin America
And Bush and his policies greatly contributed to this it changed the demographic here in America, which makes it much more difficult just to preserve our way of life
And this forum went along with that in a big way and I think received financial contributions for doing so
And many cheered it along as you will remember
I don’t know there are many other factors contributing to the lack of volume on this forum that have nothing to do with the poor politics from 25 years ago
More options and an aging audience here probably or even bigger factors to be honest

Competition from Twitter and other forums. Once they quit banning conservative posting.
The passing of an older generation, the Silent Generation cohort, like our pal William Flax and ‘Kenny Bunk’. Remarkably bright people, well informed, from a generation that read a lot.
The disappearance of print sites that once gave us fodder for discussion. The disappearance of a common American culture, thanks to the same technology that allows FR to exist.
When Limbaugh ruled the airwaves with his mix of humor and information, he was relying on material he was getting from The American Spectator, National Review (it once was good, long ago), Human Events and other print sources.
Writing is a skill that makes you focus your thought. It should train you to think more clearly, to develop your “argument”. Today’s Rush wannabee’s come from a post-literate environment where babbling and confirmation bias rules the day. And we are all dumber for it. Including here.

We are where we are in large part because, after a substantial swathe of humanity swore off being Soviets — pretty much because somebody finally had the stones to ASK them to — neoconservatives saw their sacred temple of power and their office of expertise in sudden jeopardy and beat double time convincing the universe that nobody who’d ever been a Soviet could ever NOT be a Soviet, and they racked up subscriber after subscriber on the point that taking their view meant the gravy train would keep rolling.
The extent of the predicament that has got us into ranges far more widely than that, extending all the way to Somali Learing Centers in the Twin Cities, but that’s the nub of its genesis.
Save for the skullduggery of damnable NeoCons, we could’ve by 2000 or so had relations with the fledgling Russian Federation entirely normalized diplomatically, economically — Hell, we could’ve even had them join NATO in transforming that moribund volume of stanky air into a northern-hemispheric architecture for keeping China and Iran tamped down as well as dissuading would-be pop-offs in various other quarters across the globe. There’d be no war in Eastern Europe (and no commensurate arms sales, either) at this present hour owing in part to who’s in NATO and who’s not, because just about the entire northern hemisphere of this planet would be.
The most monumental sociopolitical transformation in the world — an entire, huge nation scrapping the doomed-to-fail notions of Marx, and neoconservatives made sure we didn’t capitalize productively so they wouldn’t become outmoded, so their warbucks corporate cronies wouldn’t feel too much of a pinch in the demise of the long-reviled, but stupendously profitable Cold War.
If there were ANY geopolitical route to staving off an eventual nuclear Armageddon, THAT would’ve been it, and rather than welcome and embrace that glaring opportunity, it was shot three times in the back of the head and declared a “suicide” by NeoCons.
The lot of them, from Clintoon right on across to the Republican side of the aisle, can kiss my fine, white ass.
