I have a flip phone.
Along with stopping robocalls start offering protections against all the companies requiring a smartphone.
Ha! I learned the hard way the ‘do not call’ list was actually the ‘Hey scammers , here are some numbers for you!’ list. Since I changed my phone number I have almost no spam calls. Somehow ‘Turning Point’ got hold of my number and has been sending me texts, but since they are the same team as I am I don’t mind that too much. I still don’t respond though. Never confirm an unsolicited message with a response. It only confirms they have a active number
I can never understand the mindset of jagoffs who try to trick you into taking a call. Every now and then, I hand the phone to the grandkids who have a jolly time singing for them and calling them names. It entertains the little tykes to see how long they can keep the jagoffs on the line so they aren’t bothering somebody else.
Yeah I’ve had the spam text settings on my Android phone for ages and it doesn’t do jack. I keep getting these texts for so called political surveys and campaign texts. I think it’s all the PACs That are sending most of it. And I’m guessing that the FCC says they’re allowed to do that. I mark every one of them as spam and delete it.
Regarding spam phone calls I have the application on my phone called “should I answer”. It does a pretty good job. Not perfect, but pretty good.
My office phone is VOIP and the provider I use has a robocaller feature which has basically eliminated all my robo calls at the office. What it does is that any call it comes in gets an automated response saying please hit any key to continue. So obviously it takes a person to do that. And then the algorithm notices whether or not I accept certain calls or make calls to those numbers or spend anytime on the phone with those numbers. It then makes the assumption that those numbers are legitimate and will no longer request the any key from those callers.

Great! I don’t have an app called Caller ID and Spam. I get a dozen a day. Congress and the FCC could stop this immediately if they wanted to.
Be careful though.
I could not log into my accounts. aPPARENTLY i PUT BLOCK ON SPAM MESSAGES AND MY MESSAGES SENDING ME CODE FROM BANKS AND OTHER ACCOUNTS WERE BLOCKED.
mY BANKER EVENTUALLY TOLD ME TO TURN IT OFF.
I know this Indian guy who owns a store near me and he’s pretty cool dude. He lets them come through and then he tells them how much he enjoys sodomizing their mother and how much she enjoys it when she has to perform various disgusting sexual acts on him. They generally hang up after a bit of that, lol. I was sitting there one day when he did it and it was hysterical.
My brother in law likes to get them on the phone and then tell them they have mistakenly called a hidden CIA office number. And that their number is already traced and they will be hearing from the CIA shortly. Or else he acts like he wants to talk them and tells them he has to run to the bathroom and then he puts the phone down and goes away for about 15 minutes comes back and says I’ll be there in a minute and does this several times until they give up and hang up.

This is just telling people how to use features on their phones they’ve long had. A ‘crackdown’ would be blocking VOIP from India, Pakistan, and a few other places.
I have an old number that I’ve moved to google voice. Every so often I go in to clean it out and make sure there are no legitimate calls.
If have a few minutes I’ll sound interested but then find an excuse to put them on hold ‘briefly.’ I like to see how long they will stay on (and hence not annoying/scamming others).
My record is 15min 35 sec.

to get off offensive and unwanted email lists or texting lists....some offenders demand that you go to their websites and give them your personal and/or financial information.
this is exactly opposite of an internet-safe practice, DONT DO IT!
it stinks. when Congress gets done (if it ever does) screwing up our national defense and economy.....they could do some good by shutting down these slimeballs’ internet antics. They’re externely irritating and interfer with interstate commerce more and more with each passing day or week there are more of the offensive communiques
A lot of these calls ring once or twice hang up and hope there’s a idiot that will call them back and get charge a big phone bill , never call them back
So, we can put a man on the moon and connect the world via internet, but can’t produce technology that offers users a failsafe means to stop all spam calls & msgs? Why do we allow offshore and possibly u.s. companies still get away spoofing #s
Besides cellphones we have a landline and it gets barraged with spam hangup calls. I bought a CPR Call Blocker. The built-in block list is useless. Whenever we get a spam call I block the entire area code. 202 and 816 are the big ones. They also spoof numbers in our area code and exchange, so I blocked that too. I check the blocked calls to make sure they aren’t real calls, and they never are. When I call the number back I always get “The number you have dialed is not in service” message.
They’re often not allowed to hang up. So, you can simply ask, “Can I go turn off the coffee pot?” They’re will say “yes” put the phone down and leave it. Come back in 30 minutes to see if They’re still there.
You need to go to the website to find better options. Pick your carrier.
