An airline passenger was duct-taped and zip-tied by other travelers and crew after he hurled racist and homophobic slurs in an unhinged mid-flight meltdown — forcing the plane to divert on Thursday night, according to a report.
The bigoted passenger was on American Airlines flight 618 from Dallas to Newark when he flew off the handle with a fire-and-brimstone-fueled diatribe at his seatmate around 10:15 p.m., prompting a black flight attendant and passengers to step in and restrain him.
When the flight attendant intervened, the buffoon then hurled the n-word at him and spewed anti-gay slurs, according to TMZ.
Footage shows the man mummy-like, bound and tied to his seat — his hands, head and torso restrained.
As the knucklehead went completely off the rails he lashed out physically, smacking his seatmate and smashing his computer.
A female passenger then began to help the man next to the blowhard but the creep pushed her back.
Three other male passengers then jumped in and contained the unruly man with duct tape and zip ties.
American Airlines told The Post in a statement that the flight was diverted to Baltimore “due to a disruptive customer” and that when the plane landed “law enforcement met the aircraft and assisted with deplaning the customer before the flight continued to its destination.”

The Flight Attendants finally get this troublemaker secured with duct tape, ankle and wrist ties, then he says:
“I gotta go to the bathroom!”
What to do?
I keep a couple of HVAC duct straps, which are basically large economy sized zip ties, in my carryon backpack. In case they are needed to restrain an airborne a—hole.
“ A female passenger then began to help…”
No. Why do girls do this?
What happened to air Marshalls?
Why, for $600 can we not have freakin security?
Put tape over his mouth.
I can remember having a problem because I had a roll of duck tape in my carry on bag. I wasn’t permitted to have on the plane.
Leave the guy alone! It was hormones.
Go ahead, nothing stopping you except the facility which you are not at liberty to use right now.
True story: Several years ago (before I retired) I was leaving the office on a Friday afternoon before I was off the following week for vacation. Hubby and I were traveling to a blue-grass festival in Florida.
As I was walking to the parking deck, I saw 4 very long zip-ties on the ground. “Humpf?” I thought to myself. “I wonder why God wants me to have these?” I picked up the zip-ties and when I got home I put them in the storage area of the RV.
That weekend an awning-connection on the RV broke and the zip-ties were the only thing we had that would work perfectly to fix the problem. We couldn’t have driven down the highway with the awning flapping about in the wind.
Moral of the story: Always have a few zip-ties with you when traveling. You never know when and how they will come in handy.
After further investigation, it was determined that the passenger thought he was on Spirit Airlines. When informed that there was no longer any flights with Spirit Airlines, he freaked out.
I’d like to hear his side.
Most likely he had too much alcohol.
However, it is possible his seatmate did something he did not appreciate, maybe copping a feel or somesuch.
I do not know, but I know there is usually an other side to such situations.
“cookies, cheeze-its, granola bar or....oh- never mind...
I agree. I'm retired and hardly ever flew when I was employed, but I see way too many stories like this where the passengers are drunk.
The airlines are partially to blame, since they sell liquor on board.
It’s the reduced seat pitch i’m telling you. Many ppl can’t take it. Anything below 32 inches and you’ve got a potential explosive situation onboard.
“Airline seat pitch (the distance between rows) has dropped from about 35 inches in the 1970s to a standard 31 inches, and down to 28 inches on budget lines. This reduction increases airline profits by fitting more rows, but it creates major safety, health, and comfort problems for passengers.”

“The bigoted passenger was on American Airlines flight 618 from Dallas to Newark. Well hell, no wonder he was going to Newark.
I remember flying in the ‘70s. Much more relaxing. No public freakouts. We had:
More leg room
Prettier stewardesses
More time to board and deplane

Much better muzak (originally sold as audio psychotherapy to prevent all freakouts from WWII, Korea and Vietnam vets)
Typical 70s flying music:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fGholpYp8I
If airline execs had room-temperature IQs they would re-instate the calming music. Of course the satanists would object at the reduction of conflict and fighting.
Jazzy?

In fact, airlines used to sell reel-to-reel tapes of the in-flight music. I remember my dad had one that was an A&M Sampler, which had a lot of great stuff on it, from the likes of Herb Alpert, Antonio Jobim, etc.
i’m thinking WAY too much meth before the flight ...
