You can’t change anitomical features. The hips, knees and elbow joints are in the wrong place for a human. Costume designer Dave Muns who made costumes for movies has said flatly that human would not not be able to fit their head in the “Mask” due to the forehead slope. Also, using comparative analysis o the film it’s been fairly well established that subject in the film is between 6 foot 10 and 7 foot 2.

Only one problem here, the development date on the film sprockets is a year before the PG film. No relying on aging memories, just hard, real world proof that they filmed a dry run and practiced the big foot walk BEFORE, not after. A confused old man cannot change time itself.
I could swear I saw this debunked completely as well. I remember thinking it was pretty clever to have the big swinging sasquatch dugs because who would have thought to fake that?

Exactly right. The film has never been truly debunked in spite of what is posted on the internet in in so called “documentary” TV shows. The costume designers name is actually Bill Munns.
And they couldn’t have made a costume as is shown in the film because the technology didn’t exist. It still doesn’t unless it is animatronics. It’s not just the walk. It’s the limb proportions (impossible for a human to fit inside and walk) the height, the muscles that move, the lack of bag and sags in the silhouette, and anatomical features that appear in great ape, but not human footprints.
If it was beyond the ability of a leading Hollywood costume designer it was beyond the ability of two cowboys.
They looked fake, because they were fake. What he and his partner had done was to take some plywood, cut it resemble feet. Then imprinted them into some mud and then made the plaster of paris replicas.
Later on in 2012 I had a contractor doing some work and he jokingly mentioned that his cousin had put on a gorilla suit and he and Patterson had made that movie.
