REUTERS: Tyson Foods “says” its closing and restructuring major beef facilities - due to
severe financial losses from a historic US cattle shortage and high livestock procurement costs.

The Leftwing climate cultists have been pushing for years to destroy the beef industry. This closure is another feather in their cap.

“ The Sierra Club has shut down the ranching industry.”

They are bad people, but droughts have caused the problems .

They don’t want you eating BEEF ... you will eat chemical ‘meat’ and bugs ... and, be happy.

Funny how other countries aren’t having these so called ‘cattle shortages’.

Our herd hasn’t gone down in size.

Hmmmm.

We have a organization in town called simply: SCS.

It stands for Sierra Club Sucks!

Folks purchased bumper stickers so SCS could fight the SC to keep our hiking/biking/motorcycle/cross county/ snowmobile trails open all year. The Sierra Club was trying to incrementally close trails at certain times of the year and stop ALL motorized vehicles (by law there are only some places they can use).

All this began 25 years ago here in Montana. The have grown over the years and actually now have a business: SS Wraps (wrapping vehicles with graphics).

Part of the profits fund their non-profit.

They are much loved and MSU’s Bobcat Stadium (current National football champs) has LARGE banners promoting SCS Wraps. Great members of the community!

I live about 10 miles north of their corporate HQ. There are rumors that they are going to start automating their poultry processing plants. Looks like we’ll be losing thousands of “diversity enhancers” in the area.

Hmmm.... the herd size is adequate. The cost of beef to the consumer is “high”, apparently for many, us, too expensive.

So if we try to determine why the beef has become too expensive, we must start at the beginning. The individual cow.

How much has the cost of creating a calf and raising it to the market increased? Why?

If the supply of marketable cattle is greater than demand, then the excess supply must be sold at a reduced price. If a reduced price is less than the rancher’s cost, then unprofitably existing may cease altogether. Beef will just disappear

This is my guess on what actually happened. Tyson wanted new tax breaks to continue operating in Illinois. They didn't get it, so they are leaving like the Chicago Bears.
