Earlier I posted about Kroger short-weighing a package of chicken I bought. Jimmy Wrigg has a number of videos about Walmart short weighing beef and chicken. Well, he's back and the prepackage bacon 1lb packages are a much as 2.5oz short of the required 16oz target. Evidently, the FDA allows a 1oz variation, but that should be randomly distributed if it's truly and error, with some packages with more that 16oz and some within 1oz less. Jimmy has yet to find one that's over by an ounce.
Solution: weigh the package before you buy it.
Thats what I mentioned. That's on Walmart.
In U.S. grocery stores, meat must be sold by net weight, which excludes the weight of packaging materials like trays, wrappings, and labels, though juices and absorbent pads are often included in the final weight if they are part of the pre-packaged product.
Products lile bacon are pre-packaged, and thus they are responsible for the wweight that appears on the packaging.
So,. is it Walmart, or the one that proviing Walmart with pre-packaged bacon packages?

Get less for more money is how some scales work and often.
I have 3 grocery options nearby...Walmart, Publix, and Food Outlet. I can’t afford Publix and I’ve gotten bad meat at Food outlet two times, not going there again. I miss Winn Dixie!
... as an aside.... I was driving through Washington state and stopped for gas. Some idiot Mexicans were in front of me and they spent 20 minutes pumping ounces of gas, shaking the car, then pumping another couple ounces. Rinse and repeat. I didn’t have the luxury of finding another pump as I was in my RV and this was the only diesel pump they were using.
People should take their short-weight product back to Walmart and get a refund. No company like returns for a variety of reasons, from hassle costs to inventory control problems. If enough people do this, Walmart will fix things with their supplier. Meanwhile, you can use your refund to buy from a more reputable purveyor.

Understand. Yes I worked hard, saved and invested well and am fortunate.
Easy does it ... they’ve been injecting swine meant for consumption, in the USA, with Sequivity, since 2018.

They don’t have to disclose whether or not their swine herds have had these injections.
I like Walmart just fine, and their prices are usually lower as well.

New rule, if you go to buy something and it’s under weight you get it free.
You’re defining completely free market wrongly. Free doesn’t mean fraud.
It means no government regulation but laws against fraud, both criminal and civil, apply.
For instance a company underweighing food would be subject to stiff fines and possible prosecution of managerial staff responsible.
When managers and executives are regularly jailed and their assets seized, scupulous honesty follows.
better solution: don’t buy meat from Walmart ...
“Never attribute to malice that which can be explained by incompetence.” I would look first at who is working behind the meat counter.
Don’t be ashamed of a few bell bottoms and tie dyes that somehow didn’t get given to charity a while back.
I wholesaled to Walmart for almost 3 decades. They are notorious for beating a vendor down to the point he is not making any money.
I would believe they were fine with the under weight product as long as it was reflected in their wholesale price.
Then the vendor takes the heat. I have no use for walmart.
