America Is Finally Taking Extraterrestrials Seriously
Time ^ | 08 06 2026 | Jeffrey Kluger

Posted on 08/06/2026 5:19:38 PM PDT by yesthatjallen

There was nothing much happening in Jerome and Benno Leuer’s yard in Hamel, Minn. on August 11, 1948. It was noontime in the thick of summer and the boys, 10 and 8, were idly playing when, as they later described it, something overhead caught their eyes. They looked up and their jaws dropped.

Roughly 12 ft. up in the air was a dull gray, circular object, about 1 ft. thick and 2 ft. in diameter, slowly descending between them. They stood transfixed as the object settled onto the ground, making a clattering sound like metal hitting metal. The object rested there a moment, and then began emitting a high-pitched whistle that, to the boys, sounded like a teakettle. It spun in place once, then shot 20 ft. into the air, hovered for a moment, and ascended to 30 ft., maneuvering around tree branches and telephone wires in its path. Finally, it jetted out of sight.

Jerome and Benno ran inside and told their parents what they had seen. Their father notified the only authority he could think of: R.R. Sheridan, the local postmaster. Sheridan, in turn, called the FBI field office in St. Paul. To the family’s surprise, the bureau sent an agent. He interviewed the boys and inspected the yard.

Sounds like prep for another lockdown scam to take our rights.

No we are not. It’s all complete nonsense, used by the government and media to distract us

I guess ‘government’ has been doing it for many hundreds of years, if literature and art of the past are any testimony...

Area 51 is nearly 1,000 miles from Roswell.

Gosh. I guess I shouldn’t take interest in anything at all except communists taking over the Democrat party.

After all, I have no ability to walk and chew gum at the same time...

Least our planet be the only planet in our galaxy with the ingredients for life it is certain that extraterrestrial life exists of equal intelligence and probably far superior. We have only been around for a few million years. They could have been around far longer.

Oddly this does not contraindicate God. Who created the universe from nothing. It should be noted that physics fails at the point of the big bang with a small question. What was before? Was it God? Was it creation from nothing?

God is eternal and no one on this earth can define what eternal is. I can not.

You have no idea jerod

At least I have a real Tin Foil.

The elites have always known that aluminum foil does not work but since they control the language they changed it enough that you don’t realize the difference.

Try to find real Tin Foil (hint, you cannot)

I think it’s been suggested that two new factors should be added to the Drake equation which might reduce the estimation.

But even at that, given the 200 sextillion stars currently (conservatively) estimated to exist, I think any sensible person would think that there is definitely other intelligent life Out There.

God didn’t seem to limit His creativity on Earth- He filled just about every possible space with Life. I can’t imagine that He limited Himself Out There.

like the conspiratorial tales about recovered spacecraft and alien remains at a place known as Area 51 in Roswell, N.M.

That’s a great way for Time magazine to boost credibility.

“Area 51 is nearly 1,000 miles from Roswell.”

Yeah I think most of us know classic Flying Saucer history by heart.

Some of us may even have been abducted and subjected to unspeakable alien probes before being rescued and returned to Earth by our new bff Chewbaca.

The alien probe stuff never made much sense to me - there’s too much of the absurd about it.

They’re probably out there; but I doubt they’re coming here and fooling with us.

There’s more than one thing going on in all of these stories.

That is such a great song.

I miss Art Bell. He knew how to make a radio show great.

George Noory on the other hand... I have no idea how that show has lasted with Noory at the helm. He’s like the anti-Art Bell.

It IS a great song, and would be great even if not set to the Art Bell show theme. It can stand on its own.

(There are archives of the Art Bell show all over the internet. You don’t need to miss him.)

There is no doubt that thousands of people have seen aerial phenomena that were inexplicable by ordinary standards. The disappointing fact is that, based on the fundamental laws of physics, it is impossible for a massive body to attain the speeds or acquire the energy to travel any appreciable distance within or between any galaxy in the Universe.

Whatever may be out there, it will forever be the speculation of science fiction writers. We will never have contact or receive information about the existence of other intelligent beings in our Universe. No civilization sufficiently aware of the distances and times required to travel between star systems would attempt such a futile and uncertain voyage.

The only possible exception would be if we detected light from one or more stars indicating their energy was being diverted within a Dyson sphere or some other advanced technological device with no natural explanation. It would be interesting, but not very useful information.
