Restaurant chain Cracker Barrel announced Monday that its current chief executive officer, Julie Masino, will step down as CEO and board member, effective Aug. 10.

Cracker Barrel shared the news in a press release announcing David Deno as the company's new CEO and board member, effective the same date.

According to the release, Masino will remain with the company until Oct. 9 "in an advisory capacity."

Deno previously served as the CEO of Bloomin' Brands, the company behind Outback Steakhouse, Carrabba's Italian Grill, Bonefish Grill and more.

"Cracker Barrel is a truly iconic American brand, defined by its unique combination of warm country hospitality, timeless appeal, and deep connection with guests across generations," Deno said in part in a statement included in the release. "I am honored to lead the Cracker Barrel team and look forward to unlocking the full potential of this remarkable brand."

"a Trio of Wopper Jrs. to get me through 18 hr...."

I can't fault you. My bride says we need to eat healthier.

Doggone it. I've got apps on my phone for discounts at McDonalds, DQ, Sonic, Taco Bell. It's so much easier than cooking and cleaning. So tempting.

"And she will move on to another company and wreck it as well."

There you have it.

How much money is washing around these companies that they can pay tens of millions of dollars to executives to fail???

It pains me to wonder whatever happened to the eight dollar charge for missing 'glasses, sand and dust' from 1992, that I had to pay before I could retire from the Army. (yes, I paid it. With military discount they were $6.40)

I couldn't retire from the Army until I cleared CCF. I think I was charged another $2.50 for a canteen. It was about thirteen dollars before they would stamp my paperwork. Nigh thirty years of service and the Army wants less than twenty bucks.

How the hell are people slinging around millions of dollars in fraud and not being held accountable??

I like the onions, plus It’s easier to miss the seat than with a full size Whopper.

I just saw an article called “How the Cracker Barrel CEO Saved Her Job” - that was written in June. Guess it didn’t age very well...

Now she’s screwed up Cracker Barrel and Taco Bell - wonder who will pay her a nice big salary to screw their company up next?

CB needs to get back to real cooking instead of reheating food. Ditto for most of these chain sit-down restaurants.

“I never liked the old CB.”

I ate at one once. I do not like cookie-cutter, formulaic restaurants like CB, Red Lobster, Dennies, etc. I always seek out local places, not chains. I like giving the hard-working local proprietors the business.

My kids treated me to a birthday dinner a great Nepali Restaurant called “Kathmandu” the other night. It was SO good. Tonight I took my son to our local Mexican joint “Fiesta Vallarta.” It’s been in town for decades. Great basic Mexican fare, but very well executed. They’ve got a delightful courtyard patio in the back. Great place to sit for a summer evening dinner.

We used to love Burger King. Haven’t eaten there in 20 years. The burgers are good but the fries coated in plastic turned us off.

Not that McDonald’s is any better.

I’d love some good onion rings.

Now I’ve derailed the whole conversation from the Cracker Barrel executive being fired. Or resigned to move on and destroy another company.

Peter Principle? No. Like someone said, “Fail Up”. Scrooge McDuck only swam in his vault. These people want to swim in everyone’s vault. And take it.

Remaining for a while in an “advisory role” means “tell us who helped you mess up that bad?” and “what other bad decisions did you make, and where are the dead bodies?” Then, “get the H out of here.”

Those aren’t the thick-framed “boss” glasses she wore before. Must be going for a low-key, “Bailey Quarters” look…

If only I was paid millions of dollars for bad decisions.

I guess this college-educated woman thinks that putting spanking paddles on the walls sends a message to the (few) kids who still come there that they must BEHAVE.
