Or announcer. I don’t mind that women are part of panels and whatnot but do they HAVE to be part of EVERY panel? Can’t we have one show that is all guys?

Same principle as men in women’s restrooms.

They don’t belong there.

NHL generally wants to be “modern” and not be left behind our woke times, so they too follow other sports, and have female analysts, and now color-commentators.

I could see the NHL wanting to bring in a female referee, but can they skate as fast as the male referees?

Female lines”men” would be impossible. I can’t imagine any woman being able to step between two 6’3” 220 LB guys in a fight.

CB Bucknor was the lowest ranked MLB umpire (91 out of 91 for overall accuracy and correct calls). Bucknor is even worse than former MLB umpire Angel Hernandez.

Jen Pawol makes Bucknor and Hernandez look competent in comparison.

“Home plate umpire Jen Pawol ruled that Padres hitter Sung-Mun Song didn’t make his ABS challenge in time, resulting in Padres hitting coach Steven Souza Jr. being ejected after he took exception with the ruling.” Did anyone watch Ángel Hernández call the plate late in his career? He was in a different hemisphere.

Really don’t get the apparent balk call on the Blue Jays. The batter backs out of the box, the pitcher throws a strike and she calls it a strike! Then she directs the Padre runner at third to score. ???

I know she is pretty bad but plenty of men umpires make questionable calls as well. Point is, the ABS is a great idea and I expect this approach to expand signficantly.

MLB has gone woke. Lezbo crossdressers ball colored caps. I was a sports official for over 27 years. I worked military sports, high school sports, JC level sports. I never worked with a female. Sorry, but a female in a man’s game cannot do the job in my humble opinion, and this from a retired military who has worked with females on the job and found no problems, except they cannot do PT the same as a man. So, that liability is on a sports field also. Keeping up wise. There are plenty of men who cannot do the job also. Worked with many who I told to go do something else, this was not their chosen thing. Sports officiating is a HARD job. The old say is: You have to be perfect the first day, on your first call, and IMPROVE from there!!!

The Yahoo article could have been written by the umpire herself. She will continue to improve...... How long with that take and what sort of improvement have we already seen?

The sportsball league owners are telling you the referee doesn't really matter.

She is the 3rd worst umpire in the league for accuracy and consistency and CB Buckner is retiring this year. She was middle of the pack for her limited sample in 2025.

I don’t know how umpires or officials in other sports are evaluated.

In baseball, do they have cameras everywhere, so that each pitch is evaluated, and then they compare that with the umpire’s call of ball or strike on the pitch?

Then I know they have challenges on safe or out calls on the basepaths.

Just wondering if each umpire gets a percentage score or how this all works.

Just thinking too, that if umpires are shown to be wrong way too often, they should not be in this line of work.

I wonder too, this year they started the system of challenging balls and strikes, how often has the umpire been overruled on those challenges?
