One wonders how many workers (probably slaves) died making that dome…. As well as other Roman structures, like the Colosseum, etc..

According to the article the skilled contractors were indentured or outright slaves and the unskilled workers were free citizens.

Probably had a fairly large death toll during construction… Probably not on the same scale As the pyramids of Egypt… But still…

They didn’t care about lives, Free or otherwise

Better Roman houses had the conpluvium in the atrium, with the impluvium below to catch the rain running off the roof. Good design choice, other than in much colder climates. I wonder if the Pantheon's oculus was an analogous design choice.

Yes, it was. Years spent on about a 1-2 mile project, with several miles of cones & lane closures.

Rebuilding an interchange.
