First wave of Social Security checks hits accounts this week — find out who will see as much as $5,181

Millions of retirees are set to cash in.

The first wave of Social Security checks will hit accounts — or be distributed for those who still love a paper check — on July 8. Typically, payments are issued on Wednesdays and roll out three times a month based on your birthday.

This means recipients born from the first to the 10th of the month will get their monthly benefits on Wednesday, July 8, according to the Social Security Administration’s (SSA) payment calendar.

Those born from the 11th to the 20th are paid on the third Wednesday, and beneficiaries born after the 20th are paid on the fourth Wednesday. Those who received Social Security before May 1997 or are claiming Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI), will see checks on the third day of the month and their SSI payment on the first day of the month.

There’s no maximum amount that covers everyone receiving retirement benefits. Check amounts vary based on a few factors like your earnings history, the age you retire, and the year you retire. But you can estimate.

According to the SSA, the following applies to those who earned the taxable maximum in each year beginning at age 22 and start receiving benefits in 2026.

If you retire at full retirement age in 2026 — which is between 66 and 67 and depends on birth year — your benefit would be $4,152.

If you retire at age 62, the earliest you can claim in 2026, your benefit would be $2,969.

For those who delay their retirement to age 70 in 2026, which guarantees the maximum possible monthly payout, your benefit would be $5,181.

Ah, the illegal, unconstitutional, (broke from day ONE) Ponzi scheme continues.

Unfortunately, that masses applaud the pittance of a return on their stolen $$; same as they do their yearly tax ‘refund’

**Who are you to determine how much someone needs per month? I will get $5K+ per month if I wait until 70 to claim Social Security, and I earned it. And I’d like my money back.**
I like you. Please wait till’ age 70 so you can get your money back-JUST THAT. Don’t sponge off he millennials for more as they got their own money issues.

**Within the next few years Congress will fix the Social Security and Medicare shortfalls. They will do it mainly by raising payroll taxes and ending the payroll tax cap on high earners. They may even toss in a value added tax. And means testing might also be in the mix. Neither republicans or democrats will vote against it.**
As I’ve said retirees will be sponging off millennials and congress will be taking the cowards way out. Millennials don’t vote like gummers who have nothing else to do.

Trump accounts. Where is that sweet spot where the public finds out how much better the accounts will be and SSI allowed to wither on the vine? Let the old folks die off. Money going out will stress the system until the last one’s gone. That’s why my target date is when the last baby boomer turns 100. That’s 2064. Like open borders it’s the democrats that got us into this mess. Since billionaires are mostly democrats I’d go for that wealth tax once every 10 years-that’s 4 highway robberies 10 years apart. Make them feel like Eric Swalwell/Platner. Then the bigdaddies can be cut off after they got what they put in-it’s fair enough. Should any budget surplus go into the (lock box) fund? Perhaps. Young folks who don’t vote should continue paying into SSI. Punish them for not paying attention.

“So why does ANYONE need $5k per month”

In new york city or los angeles, thats poverty wages.

Make it 15 thousand a month.

But who determines your “means”? But here is a story that happened to me, worked for a guys Company in a small town for almost 30 years as one of the managers. His Company grew well over time with the managers he hired to run it and he was taking home a million a year and was paying his wife(who actually did nothing for the Company) half a million for at least 20 years. One day he decided to sell out and told all of the managers that they needed to cooperate with the sale and they would be rewarded with 1 to 1.5 and never have to work again. On the day the sale closed and he got his 80 something million, only two of the managers got what they were all promised, his brother and his brother in law. All the rest of the managers got a years pay, and the government took a third of it off the top, and they all started working for the Company that purchased them(their biggest competitor). Fast forward to a few years later and not one of them is still employed there. Anyway, the point is that this owner and his wife put enough into SS to max out so they both to this day receive the max amount of SS every month. Because the 80m from the sale and the 20 they already had wasn’t enough? No, because that is the way SS is set up to operate. Seems to me that maybe in cases like this, SS should only be paying back what was put into it?

The cost of living in our assisted living facility is $4200 and change per month for two of us. That would leave a mere $800 for prescriptions, gas and insurance, and maintenance for our car, misc. houusehold items like paper products, clothing etc.
We have to withdraw more than $1k from our IRA to cover our expenses.

Then move. Problem solved.

Lower level managers embrace the suck they signed up for. Sounds like the owner is an evil capitalist. It’s legal. One year’s severance pay is not an obligation.

THAT’S the way IRAS are set up and it’s doing a better job result-wise.
