yes but I am not sure yet how to get updates without a msft account.
I still use my W10 laptops for music in the kitchen and in a store room, this keeps them secure even though I’m not using them for other things.
The world is full of great hi-tech W10 computers, it will be a shame to make them suddenly obsolete for those who use them as their primary computer.
Microsoft stock has been in the dumpster since last October. It needs a real shakeup at the top levels.
I’m happy the deadline has been extended.
I’m still going to look for a new laptop in the meantime.
I downloaded Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 from...
https://archive.org/details/en-us_windows_10_iot_enterprise_ltsc_2021_x64_dvd_257ad90f_202301
...and got a license key for $9.99 from...
Burned the Windows ISO to a bootable flash drive with Rufus, booted from it and followed the directions.
They tell us now.
My mom can’t install Windows 11 without a new computer. Not gonna happen. It’s an unnecessary expense in both money and time just to keep using the same games and programs she’s using now.
I took the dive last year thinking it would be easy to convert the drive from MBR, install on a nice new gaming rig and then upgrade to Windows 11 on the new computer. While eventually successful, it was a nightmare of pain guided by AI, which I suspect was on drugs at the time.

I think (1) Microsoft panicked when they did not even come close to their projections for Windows 11 upgrades; then (2) realized that even fewer people CAN upgrade to Win 11 because the prices of CPUs, GPUs, RAM and SSDs have gone through the roof.
My w10’s are needing cmos:s. My TP T410s are running Linux very well.
Good!
I still have a win 7 pro running right next to my Mac Studio. I just use it for photo storage.
Kewl!
thanks for the info, because my kids (not me) are still on windows 10, mainly for gaming. i keep their computers running by repairing/upgrading them every few years. but, windows 10 is the end of windows for me. i won’t go past that, even for my kids.
2032, actually. You have to use IoT, which is de-crapified Enterprise.
Linux....
Been using Win 11 laptops for a couple years - been leaving an old Win 10 desktop box plugged in to keep the BIOS battery charged in case I decide to start playing with LINUX.
I am currently on the best desktop computer I have ever had and I got an entire system (monitor/mouse/keyboard/computer) for $171.00 delivered to my front door. For what it costs to purchase Windows 11 alone from Microsoft my renewed Dell 2016 7040 came with 1TB HDD and 16GB RAM with official Windows 11 PRO. This came from an American company that has figured out how to obtain discarded older machines and update the motherboard components to have a machine that can hang with the best of the ones that go for thousands of dollars. Pro Teck is out of Michigan or Pennsylvania (I forget) and I have one game (a P2P) that is a hog for RAM and graphics that has always lagged or Froze on every computer I have had in the past 30 years. This one flies and I can’t say enough good things about this line of products (refurbished/renewed) older workhorse computers/Monitors. The keyboard and mouse were new in the original cartons...low end but still good back ups. I bought via Amazon so they back this up along with the company that actually does the work right on American soil. Jus’sayin?
