A Virginia judge has issued a statewide preliminary injunction blocking enforcement of the Commonwealth’s new ban on so-called “assault firearms” until December 31, 2026, handing Virginia gun owners a major victory just days before the law was scheduled to take effect.
The ruling came Thursday in Crump v. Katz, the state-court challenge to Gov. Abigail Spanberger’s sweeping gun-control package. The judge read the preliminary injunction from the bench and made clear that the assault-firearms ban is now enjoined statewide while the case proceeds.
The Commonwealth tried to limit the injunction to Lancaster County. The judge refused.
The state then asked the judge to stay his own ruling. He refused that, too.
That means the injunction is in effect now unless a higher court intervenes. Virginia’s assault-firearms ban is not merely delayed on paper. It is blocked statewide through Dec. 31.

So, where did we get a freedom-loving judge (unnamed in the article) that can read the USSC Bruen decision?
We’ve had “assault rifles” since the Winchester 1905 self-loading. AR pattern rifles are overwhelmingly the most popular rifles in America for years and years. Is that in common use enough for you, commie judges?
So in the meantime, can residents of Virginia buy and possess “assault rifles?”

Today in 1876, Custer was defeated by a people armed with the then latest firearms on the market. The Tube fed Lever action rifle. Yet after that, no one called for a ban on those rifles for everyone. In fact, in the attempt to ban handguns in 1934 it was said a RIFLE was better for home defense than a handgun. In 1984 they came for the rifles.

I have hammers, kitchen utensils, frying pans, glassware, screwdrivers - all can be used to assault someone. Or not. The guns are tools.
And frankly, given the purpose of the second amendment, we should all have as assaulty of assault weapons that we can get. Especially with the rise of communism in our government.
The way our Colonial Forefathers did it, was show up at their home and physically remove them to another location.

I’m in S. MS where open and concealed carry are constitutional - no license needed. I was on a fishing pier a while back when a man asked if I was an LEO because of the gun on my hip. I replied that I was merely exercising my constitutional right.
He then proceeded how scary/terrifying it was to see someone sporting a weapon. I assured him that wasn’t my intent....he nattered on and on about how damn terrifying it was and finally got tired of him, so I said, “If it was that darn terrifying, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.” That finally shut him up.
Guantanamo comes to mind
