Sean Penn will direct a new film about the January 6 riot set to star Bradley Cooper.
According to Deadline, the star, who recently won his third Oscar, will bring what’s been described as a “passion project” to the screen and act as both writer and director.
The as-yet-untitled drama will follow the life of a police officer who gets mixed up in the violent insurrection of 2021. Cooper is reportedly in talks to play him.
The film has also been referred to as an “unexpected story about friendship” that will be made in collaboration with the real-life subject whose identity is being kept hidden for now.
Penn attended a January 6 House committee hearing in 2022, describing himself as “just another citizen” who was there to observe.
“I think we all saw what happened on January 6, and now we’re looking to see if justice comes on the other side of it,” he said.
Penn has also previously referred to Donald Trump as “an enemy of mankind” and a “narcissist”.

I had a weird jag about never letting go of the image of Sean Penn as a goofball, lazy Spicolli type, no matter how many serious roles he had later.

A ‘violent insurrection’... where the only people that died were two unarmed, non-violent women that were killed for just being there.
I can’t wait to see how these lying sacks of excrement twist this reality into something they wanted it to be....

So Cooper, who must have a career death wish, wasn’t able to destroy his career with his abysmal performances in Maestro or his short but notably but laughable performance in Superman, so he’s trying again by being in a Sean Penn-directed January 6 movie. Any Penn directed movie would be a bomb even if it was a Yankee Doodle Dandy remake. But adding the inflammatory J6 topic? Its going to be a bigger disaster than the latest Star Wars slop.
How do these people find investors? Isn’t the object of investment to make money? Is this a “The Producers” like movie scheme?
J6 was the Junta’s enforcement of their coup . Any depiction other than that is a stranger to the truth. Most Americans don’t realize America was only two Senators away from permanent dictatorship. The RATs have since removed them for not goose-stepping in formation .

We all saw the same video clip over and over and over. Watching the released footage shows a bunch of people mulling about.
I am sure it will be an honest portrayal of what happened and show the glowies egging on the crown and the cops opening doors and escorting people around.
