Then the defense lawyers get the guy off or put into a minimum-security psychiatric facility where the compassionate psychiatrists soon agree he can leave for home with once a month followups to his social worker and shrink.

Several people went to the emergency room with a few near death and hurting for weeks, and it took some days to link they were all shoppers at that place. Then camera showed this was the guilty man.
Trial ended with him actually skipping the psych facility phase and the judge allowing his mother at home to watch him along with once a month psychiatrist visit at his office. No jail time.
