There is an AFP (French version of AP) article in today’s Toronto Sun on how Trump is blaming vandals for his failures on the pool. No mention, of course, that the perps have been arrested and no mention of the algae protesters.

Federal vs non-federal crimes - I have no idea really. I don’t think the federal government has the authority to do this with any state-prosecuted crime. Otherwise, Tina Peters would have been absolved of all crimes on day one. A lot of finagling and negotiations took place to get her released, but it was ultimately the governor of CO that did it.
I also don’t think that pardoning “any and all” crimes is valid in any manner to be honest. A blanket pardon, and I’m sure it will be tested in the future - hopefully soon. That card shouldn’t even be available in the deck.

I don’t understand why there are not guards full time protecting our national treasures. There should be cameras and monitoring (to guarantee legal basis) as well during this time as well as stiff and strict prosecutions.

True nothing is as it seems. Also Albania and Saudi Arabia are clannishly tribal and their commercial dealings go along a similar pattern. A pattern that is unfamiliar to Americans who never have had to deal with foreign countries. With Trump in the White House it is not out of the ordinary for countries to try to make deals with Trump’s family members in an attempt to influence Trump.
The author was stretching it when saying that the Albanian citizens were protesting the preserve being sold to a commercial developer. The citizens were protesting against the Prime Minister Rama after his deputy Belinda Balluku was indicted for corruption. Protests about their corrupt government not Kushner’s company investing in the island.
The island sale to Kushner may just be fuel on the fire. The article mixes the island sale for development with drug trafficking corruption with the similar thread between them being the corruption of their government. Rama’s deputy was arrested for corruption. I do think Kushner may have stepped into a mess. One would think he would have investigated Albania before going into this venture. Some countries are so corrupt that one should avoid them. Albania business is very corrupt due to the intertwining of criminal orgs. with business.
