A Washington school superintendent accused of helping cover up several sexual assault allegations at a high school was recorded on body camera as officers led her out of district headquarters in handcuffs and shoved her into a police cruiser.

New footage released Friday shows Longview Public Schools Superintendent Karen Cloninger being arrested at district offices following a months long investigation.

Investigators alleged she tried to conceal reports of sexual assaults involving Mark Morris High School basketball players in a locker room.

The investigation previously led to several players being arrested on rape charges back in February, according to KLOG 100.7.

Approximately one hour of body camera footage was released to KATU News.

The video shows officials standing inside district headquarters while other investigators interviewed at least one district employee in private.

After learning she was being arrested, Cloninger asked officers what charges she was facing and whether she could access her phone to contact an attorney.

Nothing is more important than PR with those folks. Not test scores, not student safety, not staff safety. It’s all about making the school look good. Can’t have any bad news hitting the papers.

I taught for many years in a large urban school district. Calling 911 was a firing offense (seriously). We had to call the school police.

And that’s because administrators could bury school police reports. They couldn’t bury city police reports.

The first picture from 2025 is this past December, and four out of four players on the court are white. The picture from 2023 shows only one black kid by my eyeballs.

My guess is it was a hazing incident. I have seen stories about such things in the past. Don’t want to know the details.

Certain parts of rural WA and OR remain almost exclusively white. For example, I’m moving to Clackamas County Oregon this month, which is the County immediately South of Portland, OR. Portland used to be one of the whitest major cities in America, but that is no longer the case.

In Clackamas, where I’m literally 2 miles South of Portland proper, blacks are about 1.5% of the population. Crime is correspondingly lower, just 2 miles South of that Demographic and the non-application of law in Portland’s Multnomah County.

If you get out of the major cities of the Pacific North West, you may have a lot of Hispanics (10% in Clackamas, for example), but almost no blacks.

And the blacks you do get are not infected with ghetto culture. So you run into a random black guy in Clackamas, and he’s MUCH more likely to be a decent guy than, say, a black guy in Tacoma, WA from which I’m moving.

I know hazing of this sort in sports occurs, or in wartime battlefield situations and prisons and such. But I just don’t get how a dude can get aroused. I’m so repulsed by other dudes, I just don’t get it.
