After being involve with the production of Band of Brothers, The Pacific and Masters of the Air, plus starring in Saving Private Ryan, I'm looking forward to this documentary from Tom Hanks which begins today at 8pm eastern on the History Channel.
All Day yesterday off and on I watched WW II in HD narrated by Gary Sinese on the History Channel.
Additionally, this morning at 11am on AMC their Band of Brothers marathon begins, I remember when this premiered-on HBO right before 9/11 and thought it was fantastic, episodes 2,5, and 7 are my personal favorites.
Episode 2 - Day of Days - parachuting into Normandy on D-day
Episode 5 - Crossroads - Winters leading a charge in Holland and ending with Easy Company taking up position around Bastogne at the beginning of the Battle of the Bulge
Episode 7 - Breaking point - Guarnere and Toye getting injured and Spears taking over Easy Company.
Yes. However, not all of our heroes were KIA’s. I tend to honor them on Memorial Day too. Some of our heroes were not whole when they came home having died inside, even though they lived through the horror.

I like it a lot as well, WW II in Color is a 10-part series that is good, last night I watched WW II in HD narrated by Gary Sinese was solid and Apocalypse WW II narrated by Martin Sheen was good as well.
At this point in time, I doubt there is any new film or information that isn’t already known, it will be interesting to see what Hanks produces.
I’ll stick with Indy Neidell’s WWII series.

i’m a WWII buff, and the first episode left out lots of important information, including the fact that Hitler’s army was FAR from being completely mechanized at that point, using thousands of horses to pull big guns into position, a and pull ammo wagons and supply wagons ...
plus, there was nothing new from what a dozen existing WWII series had already explored ... my impression of the first episode was the series was gonna be something like “WWII for Dummies” for ignorant folks that don’t know jackshit about WWII ...
