Unfortunately, that statement is very true. Some Republican leaders (example: Trump) have fire in the belly. But most of them act like it’s still 1955, and Congress is a refined debating club.
If and when the Democrats take over, expect to see attempts at court-packing, elimination of the filibuster, etc. Trump’s veto will control the worst of it.
But what happens after he leaves?

After their successful coup installed Biden, I was terrified when they also stole the last seat they needed to control the Senate . They did try to kill the Filibuster, they did try to Nationalize elections. They rounded up patriots who protested what they did and railroaded them into the DC Gulag with the most biased venue in the land.They bribed the world to invade America and even paid to fly them in.
We don't need to imagine what they will do. They already tried it. It is only because two of the enemies Senators refused to play along that America remains a Republic. They ran those two out of office so we can't count on being saved a second time.

I don’t know that they’ll abolish the filibuster without the White House. They can pass all they want but they won’t get by Trump’s veto and won’t have enough votes to override, so I think they’d be rolling the dice on the outcome of 2028 without any immediate benefit.
