No link. Just wondering. Hate to see it disappear.
Mommy dearest. Remember her?
Non stop and they wouldnt stop it.
She was actually spamming for one blogger from Ukraine.
You idiot I don’t call people names! /s
“A fundamental Free Republic rule is “NO personal attacks”. FR would do well to enforce that rule more strictly.”
They used to.
So easy to be a critic, yet most would prefer to keep
this website and jettison flotsam that contribute little,
if any, true value to the conversations.
Any profit they make is earned and needed to encourage
the common sense this site continues to provide as well
as the instant gratification that comes from telling
any someone who needs to hear it to
BUGGER OFF!
If FR is an LLC its a business now.
I would think this is a particularly relevant point to be made when discussing the fundraising challenges today.
A large cost is the routers and servers in hardened Data Centers.
I'm retired from Verizon Business and worked at a Data Center for a few years. It is enough to boggle your mind. Data Centers are hardened, meaning the equipment is protected in Faraday cages against nuclear blast electromotive force (EMF). You have to pay big bucks for that.
In 25+ years here, I’ve asked exactly one Freeper to get lost — and that was only because he has a long-standing habit of attacking other people here. And the number of times I’ve asked a moderator to delete a post can be counted on one hand.
In other words, you were being described as someone who's attacked for your opinions because you don't "follow what can be called the cult".
California is expensive in every way. That’s why many companies have moved elsewhere. Cost of doing business got too high.
Also, I don’t think it’s ever been claimed to be a non-profit.
Sorry for the misunderstanding, CRZ!
You’re tripping.
The Robinsons run their own server and it’s probably a single rack server in a spare room and I doubt it’s in a faraday cage. Hell they can’t even keep the ssl/https 24/7/365. Forgot to pay for the domain name one year and we all has to use a numerical IP to access it.
As you no doubt realize, for some folks, “scolding”, being condescending, or just nasty to others, WITH IMPUNITY is the main reason they are on an internet forum.
Reading all of these posts hit on a few things that have contributed, but not to the main thing - I am sorry to say that FR has really aged out and there has been major attrition.
In general, younger people are not drawn to this archaic format (which I actually like and find very efficient, except for no way to edit). I talk to my wife frequently about how few replies there are per thread now.
To those that think traffic volume is high here, I can tell you it isn’t nearly as high as it used to be. If you look at Google Trends, you can see it isn’t even a blip anymore compared to 2004.
I’m getting melancholy even writing this.
Exactly, that and just maintaining security services and keeping DOS attacks mitigated can be extremely expensive all by itself, much less all the critical database tuning work.
We are running out of time and places to go to freely and openly share the warfare tactics of the enemy. Freedom of Speech is under attack everywhere,
Their actions are intentional and deliberate while manipulating news stories and promoting agendas to form their desired narratives.
We are in a life and death struggle for our Constitutional freedoms, those that hate us plot and scheme together daily on Zoom calls on how best to attack.
This is not a battle against flesh and blood. The window of time to share their plans openly and to resist is about to close.
Get a time machine and find out about the legal costs to keep this site running. You know nothing kid.
FR needs to bite the bullet and start taking advertising. Certainly, it is nicer not to have it, but if it means keeping the site alive, then it is time to do it.
I do recall gasdr, medmom and of course Dugaway Duke as being the main promoters of the covid vaxes.
You see? Someone clarified my point because i didnt explain it correctly..i guess.
From my perspective, its a regional thing. Where i grew up we converse in ways others are not used to i suppose.
But, it is what it is.
Entire threads should’ve been pulled in the past.
The one main reason many of us tend to stay clear of this site is security. It is a free and clear site exposed to whoever wants to take screen shots for surveillance matters and use it at their convenience.
I distinctly remember in the past when there was an outage we learned that Chris was on the way to the Data Center. Have you ever been in a large regional Data Center? They have rented relay racks and cabinets where clients install their own equipment. They have back-up generators, HVAC and security.
