Democrats go gun crazy
American Thinker ^ | 15 Mar, 2026 | Mike McDaniel

Abigail Spanberger ran for governor of Virginia as a sane, middle-of-the-road Democrat, but once elected immediately went communist crazy. Among her rapidly developing acts of comradely solidarity is an “assault weapon” and magazine capacity ban.

There is, of course, no such thing in firearm nomenclature as an “assault weapon.” There are military assault rifles, which fire intermediate cartridges and have select fire—automatic—capability, but such rifles are essentially banned by federal law. What Spanberger is targeting is America’s most popular rifle, the semiautomatic AR-15 and anything like it. The bill also bans magazines of greater than 15 round capacity, which encompasses many standard magazines.

The law is, on its face, blatantly unconstitutional. The Supreme Court’s Heller and Bruen decisions make clear bans on firearms in common use are unconstitutional. There is every reason to believe arbitrary bans on magazine capacity are also constitutionally out of bounds.

But virtually no other blue state exceeds Minnesota where legislative craziness, and rampant fraud, is concerned. In Bananas, Woody Allen’s Latin American dictator seized power and immediately went crazy. In a classic scene, he ordered the people to change their underwear every half hour and wear it on the outside “so we can check.”

Where guns are concerned, Minnesota is easily as deranged, as George Washington Law Professor Jonathan Turley reports:

Watched one of her speeches and “sane” was the opposite of my reaction.

Referring to these nitwit lefties as crazy or they have crazy ideas implies that they don’t know what they are doing and that they have no responsibility for their actions and the results of their behavior.

More so, they are self-loathing lefties who want to destroy civil society because they are social misfits and are so immature about reality that they are in a constant state of frenzy and frustration.

Arrest these petulant misfits where possible and hold them accountable.

The jerk that brpught the bill to the floor said something along the lines of “you can own these guns if you have them alr4ady, you just cant buy them any more”

As cal said “if i can own them then why cant i buy them?”

And we all remember democrats saying “if you like you health care, you can keep your health care. Yeah? We all found out what a lie that was! And when dems say “you can keep your guns if you own them already” what they r3ally mean is “you can keep thrm for a little while longer UNTIL we pass this law, get our fert in the door to gun confiscstion, THEN we will take away ALL YOUR GUNS!”

and if a weapon is found proof of ownership required.

What would be acceptable ‘proof of ownership?’

𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘱𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 ‘𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘧 𝘰𝘧 𝘰𝘸𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱?’

Whatever their registry says you own. Like “Universal Background Checks”, you’d need a registry in place to make it work, otherwise there would be a huge issue with proving ownership of a gun. Registries are illegal, but it doesn’t prevent the ATF from maintaining a “searchable database”, nor does it prevent Pam Bondi from obstructing attempts to abolish or destroy that database.

Maybe is is just proof of not being under disability to possess a firearm. That would be a felony/Probabtion marker check. That would be better since we often carry our husbands and wives equipment.

Stupid effing voters, thinking "this time, this time" they are going to elect a "moderate" who is sane.

Wishful thinking at best, usually simply simpleton thinking.

Sama as CA.

How about not checking the gun, but checking the person?

Warrants, etc.

I think that most VA Democrats are elated by this ban.
There are no “Middle of the Road” Democrats, especially those that get elected. Middle of the Road Democrats can’t get elected— the party will not let them as the party is owned by Marxists. CIA was run by Brennan a Communist Muslim. My take is that he is still running things or at least a shadow CIA. Spamberger is following his playbook abd the playbook is now the Dem party playbook.

Those who voted for Spanberger are not upset with her—they are very happy. Even if they disagree with her on some issues, they will rise to that issue no matter how extreme and adopt it as part if their own thinking because they are so brain washed by the “Party”.

I bought another AR15, 12-31 round magazines, 2 stripped lower receivers, a semiautomatic shotgun and two 19-round magazines for it. They banned 7+ magazines for shotguns!

Do I need 19 rounds? probably not and it will make it unwieldy but screw them...I’m buying what they don’t want me to have.

But serious question, since they grandfathered in magazines, how do they even enforce it? I mean I can just go to NC or WV and buy the bigger magazine with cash. And bring it back with me. Oh that magazine I bought BEFORE the ban.

Oh I forgot I also bought a Springfield echelon 4.5 Comp with four 17-round magazines.

This is the best thing to happen to gunshops in a long time.

And soon the SCOTUS should kill this ban. And if not hopefully this drives the right to the polls to overcome the margin of fraud and we can undo this.

"Why does the CIA hate Americans and liberty so much?"

As a student of military history and to a lesser degree, the intelligence community, I have pondered this question quite a bit, and I think part of the answer at least is this:

William Donovan, founder of the OSS, forerunner of the CIA, was an American patriot, but very much a 19th century man. An Ivy Leaguer, he was no doubt an elitist, but a product of a time when, "elitism," carried the implicit onus of a sense of noblesse oblige and American patriotism still had very strong underpinnings in western Christian thought. This worldview led him to his service in the border skirmishes with Pancho Villa, and in WWI where his exploits were legendary.

For all his intellect and savvy, I think by the time he was tapped by FDR for the OSS, he was largely blind to the shifting currents in academia, especially the ivies. He wanted to recruit from, "the best and brightest," and naively assumed the ivies were still the repository of elites who still shared his 19th century mindset, when in fact, they had largely started to lean heavily into secularism, and marxist deconstructionist "ends justify the means," theory. The early intel community consequently was heavily staffed with the products of these institutions, and when the CIA was formed in 1947, Truman had no use for Donovan (who was a solid Republican), but retained many of Donovan's underlings for the new organization.

In the '50s and '60s, the CIA became very active (with varying degrees of success) in influence operations, psyops, and covert regime change abroad. IMHO, it seems only natural to me that when people become adroit at pulling levers and puppet strings to obtain their desired preferred outcomes in other nations, they would be hard-pressed to pass up the chance to do the same in their own nation.

A NICS check can, and SHOULD accomplish only that. I can see no reason why the gun make, model, serial number, etc should be listed on the 4473, it should only be the relevant information, and whether or not the buyer passed the check.
