Oil pumping operations are expected to begin imminently off the coast of California after President Trump issued an executive order Friday to resume oil drilling operations near Santa Barbara, The Post has learned.
Officials for Sable Offshore Corp. informed local fire officials of their intent to “resume pumping operations within 24 hours.”
The notification is a standard protocol for industrial activities involving hazardous materials pipelines.
“This coordination allows the department to maintain readiness for potential emergency response, including resource staging, personnel alerting, and collaboration with other agencies, in the event of any incident such as a leak, spill, or fire,” Fire Chief Garrett Huff said in a statement to The Post.
“The department’s role remains focused on first-response emergency services for incidents within Santa Barbara County.”
The Santa Barbara News-Press was first to report the resumption of oil pumping operations.
Trump’s order has enraged California Democrats while industry insiders and Republicans applauded the move. But questions remain on how soon will drivers could notice a drop in gas prices at the pump.
An industry source with direct knowledge about the Santa Ynez offshore platforms and pipeline near Santa Barbara, which are controlled by Sable, said the president’s order will have a significant impact on California’s oil supply.

Doesn’t really help if the refineries producing the custom “California Blends” are shut down.
“But questions remain on how soon will drivers could notice a drop in gas prices at the pump.”
In California? Likely never. Everywhere else? Likely soon.
It will help shut bring oil prices down because oil sourced from California is a lot cheaper than importing oil from the East Coast of America.
It takes a tremendous amount of effort and time to drill an oil well. You have to do exploration, set up a.drilling rig and have established infrastructure. It would take 6 months to years to start drilling of the coast of California. This will do nothing for the price of crude oil.

Pre oil pumping my great grandfather would get the little gas can and a rag to wipe off all the tar balls stuck on our feet when we were little. After oil pumping. No tar balls. From what I hear, tar balls are back since the democrats shut down the oil rigs.
Speaking of refineries, it was announced last week that America First Refining (AFR) will build the first new, large-scale U.S. oil refinery in nearly 50 years at the Port of Brownsville, Texas.
It's about dang time!
These wells have been shut down for 11 years. It will take months and years to get production going. Even in the best of circumstances The US consumes 20 million barrels a day the world consumes 100 million barrels. 50k barrels from California will do nothing to the price of oil.
Several years ago, I met the captain of an Exxon oil exploration ship. He told me that it would take a long time to map all the oil off the coast of California.
That’s assuming they will kick off.
I ruined a pair of shoes during a visit to Santa Barbara because of the naturally occurring blobs of petroleum on the beach.
The last new refinery built was the Chevron plant in Pascagoula Miss. 1969.
Newscum is likely readying the lawsuit documents for filing on Monday…
It looks like you misread the article. It says PUMPING will resume, not drilling. They are already existing wells.
I drink your milkshake
