The unidentified teacher was suspended with pay after making the comment on February 24 as outraged parents fumed to the Merrillville School Board.
'This is what he thinks about our kids,' one parent said at the Tuesday board meeting. 'I'm not getting over this... now we see this coming from the president also.'
Parents in the school district angrily voiced their complaints at the board meeting, as the Gary branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People has launched an investigation, the Chicago Tribune reported.

Probably, they were acting like monkeys in a zoo.
My wife reports this daily.
Who tf suspends someone over that?!
Beam me up!! The stupidity of this world is just killing’ me!!
Suspended with pay.
Is that a reward or punishment?
I suspect in this case it may be more reward than punishment.
“’I’m not getting over this... now we see this coming from the president also.’”
What about the community leader who said he wanted to castrate President Obama?
Today he is celebrated by the left as a national hero.
The “parents” should be apologizing that their childrens’ feral behavior makes a teacher think of animals.
How did they even know what the teacher said? If there is video, let’s see how the children were behaving. The best solution is for the children to be disciplined until they no longer misbehave.
Well, were they acting like monkeys? If so, then? People sure have thin skin these days.
‘This is what he thinks about our kids,’ one parent said at the Tuesday board meeting.

Ma’am, anyone who gets to know your kids will think this. Classroom behavior is currently sinking the teaching profession in most metropolitan areas. The facts may hurt your feelings but that’s the case.
OK, was the teacher inaccurate? How were the students acting?
When I was a kid monkeys were legal, no license, and you could buy them out of ads in comic books. My friend’s dad had one. Not a good pet. In addition to biting, the little bastard would s##t in his hand and throw it at you.
look at him run

Agree with you - It is common to call especially young children “monkeys” because they are very physically active all over the place. The teacher should have called them “bonobos” or “macaques” then none of the complainers would know the meaning of the word or how to spell it.
Notice no one ever notices or complains about the truly ugly habit of reducing human children to “kids” which are baby goats, ala the worship of Pan who is just another face of Satan.
Lol... love the article title!! Made my day!!
I got the quote from Sanford and Son. It was a minority classroom and the kids howled with laughter
Didn’t Jimmie the Greek lose his job about a primate joke? And Howard Cosell said some athlete ran like a monkey
Thanks! That was hilarious (Flip Wilson clip).
Great thread - monkey bars, monkeying around, monkey wrenches, monkey business, “Hey, Hey, We’re The Monkees”...
It is difficult to imagine the depths of ignorance and myopic ethno-narcissism of the Fatiguers.
My “white” youngest son has always opened gifts and packages, chip bags etc., like a gorilla. I’ve told him to stop acting like a gorilla when opening items since he was little. I guess that makes me a racist??
This happened to one of my colleagues - a very tall black man who transferred out of a majority- black school. He said a lot of the problems at the school were directed to him to “solve” including fights b/c he was a “strong black man.”
He said he not only didn’t sign up for this as a teacher, he didn’t want it any more than anyone else.
He transferred into the school I was at, which was not majority black, and said it felt like going to heaven.
