Initially it was reported as rampaging students killed popular teacher. In fact, the kids were doing what almost every one of us has done while in high school: toilet-papering the teacher’s yard in good fun, when he came out in the dark and surprised them. They took off in a car and he fell in the street whereupon, without seeing him, they ran over him. Then then stayed, tried to perform CPR and called 9/11. The family of the teacher is asking for forgiveness. I think I would too in this case. Tragic, but these weren’t carnal murderers, just unlucky pranksters.
