S’no thank you.
The Mamdani administration failed for hours to attract any emergency shovelers at one Queens garage Sunday — while planning to try to dig out New Yorkers with a fourth of the force the city used for its last mega-storm.
Despite Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s widespread attempted promotion of the city’s public-fueled emergency shoveling program, a sign-up sheet at the Maspeth Sanitation garages was empty, city workers told The Post during a visit late Sunday morning.
“I haven’t seen anybody sign up yet today. No, no one,” the employee said.
There were also no signs of shovelers lining up for work at 299 South St. at a Sanitation garage on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Workers there declined comment to The Post. …

As they say, the jokes write themselves.
We voted for communism to get free stuff, not volunteer our labor for the betterment of the collective.
And don’t forget stock options.
Back in 2001, Hubby was interviewing a newly graduated PhD for a job at the tech company where he worked. The kid had a Eileen Gu attitude, and demanded stock options. He also asked if it was true that he had to work 40 hours a week. Hubby: “If you’re lucky you’ll work only 40 hours a week.”
He was not hired.
Frosty DeSnowman also signed up. I saw it with my own eyes.
Factor in that NYC is a union-run city, and only the neighborliest of neighbors are going to help but most likely only in their own neighborhood. Otherwise, workers expect to get paid union rates for city jobs.
If the mayor isn’t outside shoveling as a good example, he can hardly expect others to volunteer when they have their own jobs to do.
“When you get 2 feet of snow you are worried about digging your self out.”
Excellent point.
Don’t forget about the windrow – The technical term for the long ridge of material (snow, dirt, asphalt millings) left along the side of a road by a plow or grader.
Additionally, if they were to sign someone up, they’ll surely take out tax. Just a sucker operation any way you slice it.
Apparently , Mamdamni’s communist supporters do not like shovelling in the cold.
So much for the NYC REVLOOSHUN !
“Workers there declined comment to The Post.”
I would too, the NYP doesn’t know a girl from a boy.
But on topic, whether it is true or not it’s a fair guess that a word got out that ICE would be there to grab illegals looking for cash under the table.
That's 42 dollars today.
Your mindset is stuck in the pre-obama years when kids still had lemon aide stands and paper routes and work after school. That’s all history thanks to our destroyed culture courtesy of our communist democrats.
Exactly, leftists are only good at taking things from others that earned them. They will never give anything or help anyone themselves.
Cool
Mamdani: Who wishes that all this snow was shoveled?
Everyone: [raises hands]
Mamdani: Who wants to get out there and do some shoveling?
Everyone:
Mamdani: The new budget will reflect the $1B spent to pay people to shovel snow. I expect the Governor to write us a check.
Kids don’t have two photo ids, proof of residency, and their social security card handy
Mamdani may decide that people on welfare who could have shoveled snow and did not refused work. They may get a lesson in laziness they didn’t expect.
They don’t want to pay taxes ,LOL
Get all those illegal immigrants to shovel. I am told they will do the jobs Americans won’t do. It is, after all, a sanctuary city.
It’s that giant sucking sound...of a city imploding upon itself.
