Gay takeover of Royal Caribbean mega-cruise in turmoil as multiple passengers arrested in drugs bust
Daily Mail UK ^ | February 8, 2026 | Elliot Force

Five men were arrested in Miami last week after allegedly attempting to bring drugs aboard a Royal Caribbean cruise marketed towards gay people.

The men are facing a variety of possession and trafficking charges after trained dogs alerted to their bags as they tried to board the Symphony of the Seas for what Royal Caribbean touts as 'The World’s Biggest Gay Festival at Sea.'

After the dogs alerted, US Customs and Border Patrol officers searched the men's bags and persons. They found containers of pills and clear liquids that tested positive for methamphetamine, ketamine, MDMA and GBL.

The names of the men are Joshua Jenkins, 39, Brad Kloha, 41, Joshua Eddy, 41, Adam Jones, 49, and Hoi Le, 51.

The men were taken into custody by the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office on February 1 and booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center near Doral.

Eddy was found to have the most drugs and is facing the most serious charges.

Border Patrol officers discovered 'several bags' of pills and liquid that tested positive for 19.3 grams of MDMA, 3.4 grams of ketamine, 7.55 grams of meth and 80 grams of GBL.

GBL is a popular drug in the gay community's party scene. The body breaks it down into GHB, which is a chemical classified as a central nervous system depressant and causes euphoria, disinhibition and increased libido. GHB is sometimes referred to as a 'date rape' drug because it can cause drowsiness, but it is also used recreationally with consent.

Eddy was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of trafficking MDMA. His bond was set at $7,000.

Just get passport card, costs lot less than passport. Only restriction is you can’t fly international without a passport

And don’t forget about the quarterdeck

Which, according to Mad Magazine,
is a cheap floor on a boat β›΅
that costs about 25 cents to install

Feel sorry for the poor swab who has to clean up the poop deck.

You win the Internet for the day!

Sounds like a drug boat that needed some “kinetic action”.

Thanks for that info. Since it’s possible we may do the 50-day with Sis to several ports overseas, I guess I’ll go ahead and do the Passport. Is there any reason to do both — Passport and card? I see that option on the website.

“Is there any reason to do both β€” Passport and card? I see that option on the website.”

System redundancy. You know that modern jets have three ways built in to fly the airplane. So that if one fails......

A more powerful UV light will sanitize too. One made for this purpose. There are 70$ ozone machines (Amazon) that will nuke just about everything and deodorize too. See how many square ft it will cover. Just shut your cabin door and let it work for 1-2 hours.

For a normal cruise beginning and ending in US ports, you do not need a passport. Passport card works just fine. That is all I use on all my cruises. If you are planning to board or disembark in any foreign port, you may need passport to fly there.

You can postpone passport renewal so that it will expire later.

Again if cruise begins and ends in US ports, passport card is sufficient. All cruises stop at at least one port. You do not need passport to visit the foreign port city while continuing journey on the ship. If cruise ship stops at 15 ports no problem with passport card.

I’m a worry wart. At my age, I consider the possibility that an emergency flight back to the states exists.

True that you can postpone renewal?

(Thanks for your info!)

Think positive, stay active, eat healthy food. You will be around a long time. I will be 86 in 2 months. Don’t have a single chronic health issue. Staying active has the most benefits.
