Lindsey Vonn crashes early in Olympic downhill, taken off the mountain in a helicopter
Yeah. You are right.
She earned the spot. I was wrong.
“Breezy Johnson’s gold medal in the women’s downhill skiing is still the USA’s only medal.” Thanks, reads like she is very good at her craft and at her age could be for awhile.
The US traditionally has not done all that great in the Winter Olympics.
Who didn’t see this coming a mile away?
Doctors announce Lindsey Vonn will not recover...from her TDS.
Film at 11
The ACL had nothing to do with her fall. She caught her arm on a gate that threw her off.
And for the record, out of 7 FISA World Cup downhill races so far this season, she already has 3 first place finishes, 1 second place and 1 third place.
There's no reason why she shouldn't be racing. She should be championed for her love of the sport and willingness to do all the training required to compete at that level instead of being hated on.......
Why? She had the 11th best time in Friday's training run despite the ACL injury.
She's currently the best female downhill racer in the world.
And for what it's worth, you don't replace an injured alpine racer during the olympics.
Daily Mail says it’s a broken leg.
Yeah that’s serious.
Time to hang it up.
I'm sort of against professional athletes.
I think they should all be college athletes.
Once in a lifetime opportunity.
If you're a professional and all you do is to train for a sport, I think that's a waste of time.
At least if you're a college athlete, you're getting a degree in the process.
Absolutely.
Lindsey Vonn airlifted from course after crash in final downhill before Olympics – video
Does she get a medal for the highest number of crashes during the Olympics?
I’m proud that Breezy Johnson won the Gold in the Women’s Downhill.
Trump Curse though for TDS Lindsey Vonn ...
If you look at the video of her fall where she tore the ACL, she couldn’t hold her line, she was fading out and off course. Eventually she laid down and slid into the net... injured. With some help, she got up and slowly skied down the rest of the course.
Same thing happened in her crash run. She couldn’t hold her line...she faded out, caught her arm and crashed.
Nobody faults her for being injured. But, as in most sports, its not really shocking for injured players to crap out. Nobody says you can’t ski with a torn ACL...but competitively? I’d say, if you’re going to do it, the younger you are the better your chances of doing it successfully.
Bullshit, when did she do that? The only controversial statement she made, which offended the perpetually offended conservatives, was when she was asked why she didn't go to the White House to meet the president.
Her response was, she represented the country, not the president.
If she were a team player, she would have stepped aside to let a younger athlete compete
Step away from what? You're just another clueless idiot.
Lets get down to the facts. Saying that Vonn shouldn't be racing in the Olympics, you're clearly unaware that Vonn is currently the best women's downhill racer in the world.
Out of the 7 FISA world cup races this season, Von has 3 first place finishes, 1 second place and 1 third place. She leads the World Cup standing in the downhill with 400 points, followed by Emma Aicher (GER) with 256 and Kira Weidle-Winkelmann (GER) with 232.
As for her ACL injury, it was a rupture, not a tear, and easily reinforced with a knee brace. It had no effect on her performance, as evidenced by Friday's training run where she had the 11th fastest time, then on Saturday, the final training run, she had the 3rd fastest time.
As for the fall itself, watch the video in slow motion. At the 4th gate, her ski pole clearly caught the gate, pulling her backwards right before the critical jump and curve. It had nothing to do with her ACL injury.........
Get out of your perpetually offended political bubble and enjoy life........Sheesh!
Watch the video in slow motion. At gate 4, her ski pole caught the gate and pulled her off balance......
The people I knew were female Div I athletes when it happened. The surgery wasn’t the hard part. It was the 6 month recovery. And once ACL injured it often happens again. She had no business being on that slope.
Crap out after posting the 11th fastest time in Friday's first training run, then 3rd fastest time in Saturday's last training run?........Give me a frikken break...Sheesh
Fastest time here, fastest time there really doesn’t matter. What matters is her official run and the helicopter ride.
BS, she was on the same line at gate 4 as the other racers......Watch them
