Lets get down to the facts. Saying that Vonn shouldn't be racing in the Olympics, you're clearly unaware that Vonn is currently the best women's downhill racer in the world.
Out of the 7 FISA world cup races this season, Von has 3 first place finishes, 1 second place and 1 third place. She leads the World Cup standing in the downhill with 400 points, followed by Emma Aicher (GER) with 256 and Kira Weidle-Winkelmann (GER) with 232.
As for her ACL injury, it was a rupture, not a tear, and easily reinforced with a knee brace. It had no effect on her performance, as evidenced by Friday's training run where she had the 11th fastest time, then on Saturday, the final training run, she had the 3rd fastest time.
As for the fall itself, watch the video in slow motion. At the 4th gate, her ski pole clearly caught the gate, pulling her backwards right before the critical jump and curve. It had nothing to do with her ACL injury.........

And, her failure on the world stage didn’t have anything to do with her “injury”. It had everything to do with her incompetence at the downhill sport. And dozens of other “accomplished” female downhill skiers managed to complete their runs and place without incompetently hitting the gate with her pole and ending her run.
You are fine with branding people as “clueless idiots” without having the slightest idea what you are talking about, presenting her as the best in the world when she can’t even finish a run without putting herself out of the running. Fine. She just choked on the big stage, then. It wasn’t her knee.
You have somehow latched onto that loser as someone worthy of respect. That says something about you.
So, she sure is something. And it isn’t competent if that is her excuse.
I am going to support women who support their country, and I will do that even if the woman doesn’t place for a medal. But the execrable has-been, anti-American ingrate Lindsey Vonn isn’t one of them.

I have known you online here in this forum for many years, and you have been here even longer than I have. I have always enjoyed discourse with you.
I have had the opportunity to meet many dozens of Freepers in real life off this forum, and I have never, not once, ever been disappointed or even surprised in any kind of negative way.
The point is, up until your post on this thread, I have no doubt that I would have liked you and felt comfortable as a friend had we ever met in person, which does sometimes happen.
I know you would never have voted for Hillary Clinton or Kamala Harris, and I never would have characterized you as anything other than an intellectually conservative person. Experience has shown me that I am not wrong on these types of things.
I just went directly to an offensive mode and began posting things to rile you up, and I should not have done that.
I am a hot-head, quick to anger, which is a personality flaw. I am also stubborn, which in the appropriate contexts, is not necessarily a flaw, but for me, outside of those contexts, it is.
Especially if I feel as if I am attacked, my default mode is to strike back. And that often gets the better of me.
In all the years I have been here, I have only added a handful of names, maybe five of them, that I simply avoid any interactions with. It bothered me that my hot head would likely end up making you one of those people.
I try to give people the benefit of the doubt regarding posts to me that I find directly offensive (as opposed to posts that take offense with a specific issue) when they post to me something I take as a personal insult (especially someone who I have interacted with many times over the years) but I didn’t in your case, and I should have.
