Lindsey Vonn crashes early in Olympic downhill, taken off the mountain in a helicopter
I do not yet understand what decision would allow an injured contestant to Try Again:
Race down a very steep and obviously torture-prone, slippery slope that, from the slope’s point of view, the human is a shock absorber - maybe.
So, Miss Vonn, a broken shock absorber, is permitted to do more destructive testing.
From the CNN article (ENLARGED FOR THE INTELLECTUALLY DISABLED)
"...Targeting Olympic gold at February’s Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, Vonn is in St. Moritz, Switzerland, where she spoke passionately about what it means to compete for the US ski team.
“Well I hope to represent the people of the United States, not the president,” Vonn told CNN’s Alpine Edge..."
Just a bit of advice: before you type out some dimwitted response, try to get your facts in line so it doesn't look like you are trying to move a goalpost every time you make an error in your ad hominem attacks.
And I know you are probably unaware of this due to a lack of civics instruction growing up, but the President is part of this country.
One more thing-why don't you attempt to make your point without resorting to profanity? I displays an intellectual weakness in you that you must resort to it as a crutch. We see this most often on the Left, but your posts are proof it doesn't solely reside there as a characteristic.
If you get that upset engaging in discourse, perhaps you should put on your big-girl panties before you do so. It isn't a good look disengaging by saying "just go away" when you are the one who came in hot, guns blazing on me. If you want to dish it out, you have to take it.
It was clearly a "gotcha question".....And she answered it appropriately and non politically........
And you have your panties in a wad over that?.......LOL!
Give it up dude, the hole you're digging is getting deeper and deeper........
Women are at a disadvantage because of their biology and structure, and is primarily why nearly every physical competition is segregated by sex in a fair environment. The US military, when it was considering whether women should be included in direct combat units USMC Veteran Jude Eden wrote this in her excellent article "Women in Combat: The Question of Standards:
In his 2013 book Deadly Consequences: How Cowards Are Pushing Women Into Combat, retired Army Col. Robert Maginnis describes several military studies showing the physical suffering of women in combat: Women suffer twice as many lower-extremity injuries as men, an Army study found, and they fatigue much more quickly because of the difference in “size of muscle,” which makes them more vulnerable to non-battle injury.
Marine Capt. Katie Petronio, writing in the Marine Corps Gazette about Officer Candidate School, states: Of candidates who were dropped from training because they were injured or not physically qualified, females were breaking at a much higher rate than males, 14 percent versus 4 percent. The same trends were seen at TBS [The Basic School] in 2011; the attrition rate for females was 13 percent versus 5 percent for males, and 5 percent of females werefound not physically qualified compared with 1 percent of males.
Lindsey Vonn was within her individual rights to push as hard as she thinks she can. It is up to the coach of the team to consider if that is wise to let her proceed. And they deferred to her because of who she was.
Speak for yourself, Karen.
Just curious, did you have the same self righteous indignation at the answers given to the gotcha questions asked of the Americans participating in the Australian open tennis tournament two weeks ago?.....Not likely
Making excuses for her injecting her politics into a team sport is weak sauce.
And that was a “Gotcha question”? Nothing seems to indicate it was any kind of “gotcha question” except in the mind of someone who has latched onto a furious search on how to not make herself seem like an ignoramus.
No substantive answer from you..
Gotta give you credit, at least you tried......Epic fail!
Good night loser......LOL!
Showing there is no hard feelings between you and I, I’ll send you a comfort bunny.........
That’s what it looks like to me from the Rumble video posted up above. Normally, they clip the gates a lot on a downhill like that... This time, it looks like the basket hooked the gate and threw her sideways...
Ouch.
It's called jealousy, especially since she is a female..........
It is actually the other way around since you, as a woman, have made the choice to support a Leftist because she is a female and attack other people who won’t support her because of that.
You probably supported Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris too, since they were women.
It is very telling.
Hot Tabasco, I wish to end this exchange here.
The longer this goes on, the heavier my heart becomes.
I have known you online here in this forum for many years, and you have been here even longer than I have. I have always enjoyed discourse with you.
I have had the opportunity to meet many dozens of Freepers in real life off this forum, and I have never, not once, ever been disappointed or even surprised in any kind of negative way.
The point is, up until your post on this thread, I have no doubt that I would have liked you and felt comfortable as a friend had we ever met in person, which does sometimes happen.
I know you would never have voted for Hillary Clinton or Kamala Harris, and I never would have characterized you as anything other than an intellectually conservative person. Experience has shown me that I am not wrong on these types of things.
I just went directly to an offensive mode and began posting things to rile you up, and I should not have done that.
I am a hot-head, quick to anger, which is a personality flaw. I am also stubborn, which in the appropriate contexts, is not necessarily a flaw, but for me, outside of those contexts, it is.
Especially if I feel as if I am attacked, my default mode is to strike back. And that often gets the better of me.
In all the years I have been here, I have only added a handful of names, maybe five of them, that I simply avoid any interactions with. It bothered me that my hot head would likely end up making you one of those people.
I try to give people the benefit of the doubt regarding posts to me that I find directly offensive (as opposed to posts that take offense with a specific issue) when they post to me something I take as a personal insult (especially someone who I have interacted with many times over the years) but I didn’t in your case, and I should have.
For the years we have spent here together, you deserved better from me than the hot-headed knee jerk response I posted back to you.
Thanks for the info - good for future ref.
Now I’m reading she might have her leg amputated.
