Savannah Guthrie took to social media again with an emotional video in the disappearance of her mom, Nancy, begging the abductor to return her “valuable” mother Saturday and offering once more to pay a ransom.

“We received your message and we understand,” the “Today” anchor said on Instagram, alongside her brother Camron and sister Annie.

“We beg you now to return our mother to us, so that we can celebrate with her,” she added, later saying that her mother’s return is “very valuable to us” and “we will pay.”

Nancy is dead. They’re asking for her body so they can “celebrate with her.” Her mother was a Presbyterian church goer for 30 years. Nowadays, we Presbyterians refer to a funeral service as a “celebration of life.” The mother is with her Savior, and they are going to “celebrate” with her. That’s what Savannah’s statement means when she says they want to “celebrate with her.”

The sister is crying; the brother looks stricken; Savannah looks sad and defeated in the video tonight. They know their mother is dead. Now they just want to pay to get her body back or, as Savannah says in the video, “it’s the only way we will ever have peace.” “We beg you to return our mother to us.” “We understand,” she says. Maybe the kidnappers have said she is dead, that they didn’t mean to kill her, but now, they’re still looking for a payoff.

Savannah isn’t looking for any proof of life in this latest video; she just is asking for her mother’s body.

All this commentary about investigating is just to try now to locate the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

“I still think she was kidnapped by a cartel and she’s across the border in Mexico”

*****

It really makes Christopher Cross prophetic, doesn’t it?

While “Ride Like the Wind” by Christopher Cross is famously known as a “romanticized Western” about an outlaw fleeing to Mexico, you cannot deny the link between its lyrics and the mysterious Guthrie disappearance.

The song’s narrative serves as a prophetic roadmap for a desperate escape:

The Fugitive Spirit: The opening lines, “It is the night / My body’s weak / I’m on the run,” are viewed as a direct reflection of the physical and mental exhaustion faced by someone evading discovery. Exactly the expression we could expect from cartel on the run.

A Father’s Shadow: The lyric “I was born the son of a lawless man” is interpreted as a reference to an inherited legacy of secrecy or defiance, suggesting the disappearance was a preordained cycle rather than a spontaneous act, eerily similar to what we have here with the Guthrie tragedy.

The Prophetic Border: The persistent refrain of having “such a long way to go / To make it to the border of Mexico” is seen not as a literal destination, but as a metaphor for the unreachable “safety” that a missing person seeks—a border between their old life and a total vanishing. A journey that this story is taking all of us on, right here in real time.

The Vanishing Point: The verse “I was nowhere in sight when the church bells rang” is often cited as the most “prophetic” line, echoing the exact moment a person is noticed missing from their community or expected obligations. And we know well the aspect of religion in this particular crime.

While Christopher Cross has stated the lyrics were inspired by cowboy movies and written during an LSD trip while driving from Houston to Austin, the eerie parallels continue to point to a deeper, predictive nature, one that Cross may not have seen himself at the time, but that we can all see clearly now.

The brother in law is very creepy.
It’s either him or a foreigner.
She right on the border.
There have been numerous attacks lately on older people:

Thanks for sharing that!
“I was nowhere in sight when the church bells rang”
Appropriate too…..
She didn’t show up for church.
I hope her pacemaker is still operating and that the kidnappers took some of her pills along or got some in Mexico. If your heart is used to certain drugs and you go without them a couple days there can be rebound issues like increased blood pressure and arrhythmias.

IIRC, the verbatim origin of your tagline was, “Keep the change ya filthy animal!”

I think Savannah’s B-I-L had some type of argument with her Mom and, maybe by accident, hurt her. I believe he knows where the body is.

The cops showed back up to the daughter and SIL’s home with a search warrant about 2 hours ago. They are still there. The sister looked suspicious to me in both videos. She either knows he did it or she’s in on it too. My money is on the son in law.

The cops spent almost 3 hours at Annie’s home last night (Saturday) and didn’t leave until ~12:30 this morning.

I was watching a live stream and they spent a lot of time in the garage (but apparently went into every room). There were repeated flashes of light which may indicate they were using luminol to test for evidence of blood.
