MINNEAPOLIS — Gov. Tim Walz confirmed the Minnesota National Guard will deploy to support local authorities after Hennepin Co. Sheriff Dawanna Witt formally requested the assistance of the National Guard.

Later Saturday afternoon, the city of Minneapolis also requested support from the Minnesota National Guard to "help local police and emergency personnel protect community safety" in the area around Saturday's fatal shooting "and at other posts as needed."

The mayor’s 560 person (476 man) police force lacks the capability to control the coming riots.

I think sheriff deputies were there to prevent protestors from blocking road...I think soldiers will do the same job...

This looks like a setup to me.

The soldiers are far more likely to fire on "mostly peaceful protesters" than the sheriff deputies. And then the sheriff deputies can be ordered to arrest the soldiers.

Or the soldiers can be ordered to protect the "mostly peaceful protesters" as they riot and attack Federal facilities and staff. The guardsmen won't be issued ammunition but will be ordered to stop Federal officers from resisting the rioters in any way. Some of the rioters will be carrying visible firearms and a predictable crisis will occur.

My bet is on that second scenario.

When the Minnesota National Guard is in place, on the streets, it can and possibly will be Federalized and thus a tool supporting ICE

I like your scenario better than any of mine. I hope it works out as you suggest.

I’d check your history on the somalian refugee thing there. biden and obama did little to curtail this, but it wasn’t them that started it.

The point as I see it is that although there is in fact tremendous opposition to ICE efforts, the arrests are in fact continuing.

There are upwards to 3,000 federal agents present. What we see is a minimum of the actual ICE effort in the Twin Cities. ICE has in fact been very successful in finding and arresting the targets of the outstanding warrants.

A question to which we do not know the answer is, how many such warrants remain outstanding?

It’s the weekend, so some of the Guard may have already been on duty.

See if they’re still there Monday.

If the Governor calls out the Guard, the state pays them.

“At this point it should be obvious to anyone with a functioning brain that the Minneapolis anti-ICE anarchy is a DNC street-level operation to distract from the exposure of the massive Democrat-Somali joint-venture criminal enterprise.”

Yep, that billion dollar fraud has magically disappeared from the headlines.

I agree. This is a setup.

Both scenarios will happen.

Trump will be blamed once the National Guard shoots someone. People think he is controlling the Guard.

Trump is correct by not nationalizing the Guard.

If we have to send in the US Army into Minnesotastan, do we have an exit strategy?

Kill 'em all and let God sort 'em out?

ICE should completely pull out overnight now. This will leave the rioters with no excuse and the minnesnowta dims will have to deal with all of the rebels without a clue and their violence and mayhem.
