Ball of Fire (1941), starring Gary Cooper and Barbara Stanwyck.

The movie Sister Act appears to be an adaptation of this movie.

The Friend. The Friend is a 2024 drama film directed by Scott McGehee and David Siegel, starring Naomi Watts and Bill Murray. It tells the story of a writer who adopts a Great Dane after the death of her friend, exploring themes of grief and human-animal bonds.

"A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum" has a lot of famous comic actors playing small roles.

"Goodby, Lenin" is a funny look at the end of Communism in East Germany.

One of my all-time favorite movies. I love the opening theme music to the movie.

More people bought the soundtrack to the movie than watched it.

That reminds me...

Another rom-com with an actor playing against type is King Ralph (1991), starring John Goodman and Peter O'Toole.

Another rom-com in a similar vein is Dave (1993), starring Kevin Kline and Sigourney Weaver.

One more rom-com-dram is Heaven Can Wait (1978), starring Warren Beatty and Julie Christie.

Temple Grandin was such a good if unusual movie. Ill sometimes binge watch movies starring certain people and I was on a Claire daanes bender when I stumbled on this gem.

For the longest time I thought it was Jan Hooks playing opposite Nicolas Cage. But it was Holly Hunter.

I’ve watched it many times. One of my grandsons had watched it at school I believe and then he recommended it to me. I think it illustrates the “words will never hurt me” phrase. She just keeps pushing through.
